Where Is The App Library On iPhone? You're Just A Swipe Away
While the App Library is a useful feature on iPhone, some users have a hard time finding it. To recall, the feature was introduced to iPhones with iOS 14, back in late 2020. It came as a new way to access applications on an iPhone, making it easier for users to find their favorite application. Essentially, the App Library helps users to manage all the applications on their iPhones.
While users can add apps in the App Library to their Home Screen, they cannot move applications within the library, from one category to another. Additionally, the App Library automatically stores all the applications installed on an iPhone. Knowing how to access the App Library, the placement of applications in it and searching and application with it can improve the overall experience of using an iPhone.
The App Library displays all the applications on an iPhone in one place by categorizing them. While it sounds like a cool feature that Apple must have hidden somewhere in iOS, like the magical Harry Potter Siri spell, it's very easy to locate. To access the App Library, users need to go on their home screen and swipe left past all their home screen pages. For users who have a single Home Screen on their iPhone, the App Library is literally just a swipe away. In the App Library, the most used applications are placed near the top of the screen, making it easy for users to open them.
As mentioned earlier, the App Library on an iPhone contains various applications that are intelligently grouped together under titles such as Suggestions, Recently Added, Photo & Video, Utilities, Social, Creativity, and more. Consider these as folders that contain applications used for a particular purpose. For instance, the Utilities folder in App Library contains apps like Apple App Store, Calculator, Clock, Find My, Safari, Settings, and more. Similarly, the folder titled Social contains social media and communication applications like Twitter, Facebook, Signal, Instagram, iMessage, and more. Each folder displays four applications icons and users can tap on an icon to open the application. If there are more than four applications, their icons shrink down to occupy the space of one.
Users can also use the App Library to search for applications on their iPhones. All they need to do is open the App Library, tap on the search bar located at the top of the screen and enter the name of an application. If the application exists on the user's iPhone, it would show up and can be opened by tapping on it. Since all the apps on an iPhone are present in the App Library, users can remove some of their Home Screen pages to access the App Library in fewer swipes. However, in this case, new applications downloaded by the user might reflect in the App Library and not in the Home Screen of an iPhone.
