RHOC: Elizabeth Vargas ‘Shaken’ After Incident With Ex-Boyfriend
Elizabeth Vargas, former star of The Real Housewives of Orange County, was reportedly left shaken after her ex-boyfriend allegedly barricaded himself in her home following attempts to extort her. Elizabeth joined the show in season 15 and struggled to connect with the other women. The women took issue with Elizabeth's constant talk of money and were confused about some of the conflicting stories she told. Her conflicting stories were so confusing that they led fellow Housewives alum Braunwyn Windham-Burke to look into her finances to understand once and for all how she made all her money. This didn't sit well with Elizabeth and instigated drama between the two.
It wasn't until she opened up about her experiences growing up in a cult when people began to understand her personality better. Elizabeth revealed to the other women that she grew up in the Faith Bible Tabernacle church. The church was led by Elizabeth's grandmother, whom she says forced her to speak in tongues. She also revealed that members of the church were forced to live in trailers on the same land, while her grandmother lived in a mansion on her own. She explained to Braunwyn that she lived in an environment in which speaking up was looked down upon and telling the truth was looked down upon. This caused her to develop severe anxiety surrounding speaking her truth, having been beaten as a child for doing so. She hasn't been able to escape that mindset.
Elizabeth reportedly claimed she is completely shaken up after her ex-boyfriend allegedly barricaded himself in her house after attempts to extort her. As reported by Page Six, Elizabeth was being extorted by her ex-boyfriend, who took things a step further on Tuesday. The source said Elizabeth had been seeing the man for a few months on an on-again, off-again basis when he started asking her for money and extorting her. They explain further that it wasn't long until the man became obsessed with Elizabeth and started showing up to her house unannounced, asking for more and more money. According to the source, Elizabeth initially gave him the money he wanted, but then his demands become more exorbitant as time went on. Things reached a head recently when he asked Elizabeth to buy him an expensive car, and she refused. The source claimed it was after this that Elizabeth started to feel unsafe.
Feeling threatened, Elizabeth notified the police about what was going on, and they began monitoring her home in case he showed up. The man arrived later in the day and, seeing the police presence, barricaded himself inside Elizabeth's home. Once the police found out he had a gun, they entered the home and arrested him. According to the source, Elizabeth is completely shaken after experiencing such a big trauma, but she's thankful for the quick response of the Newport Police Department, who made sure she exited the situation unharmed. The ex-boyfriend has not been identified as of yet.
While Elizabeth isn't appearing on The Real Housewives of Orange County anymore, her life seems to be just as dramatic as ever. It will be interesting to see if Elizabeth will choose to address the incident herself on social media or through an interview. Hearing things from Elizabeth's perspective would definitely be interesting.
