Mike Pence rebukes Donald Trump, says ex-president ‘is wrong’ in saying he could overturn election

Former Vice President Mike Pence said that Donald Trump was ‘wrong’ in claiming Pence could overturn the results of the 2020 Presidential election.

Pence directly addressed Trump’s efforts to spread the false narrative that Pence could have somehow prevented Joe Biden from taking office during a speech to the Federalist Society in Orlando, Florida on Friday.

‘This week, our former president said I had the right to “overturn the election,”‘ Pence said during a speech at the Federalist Society in Florida.

‘President Trump is wrong,’ Pence said. ‘I had no right to overturn the election.’

Trump had publicly and privately urged his former VP to use his position overseeing the counting of the Electoral College votes to prevent Joe Biden’s victory from being certified on January 6.
