Tragic octomum Mandy Allwood’s pals raise glass to her as she’s cremated
FRIENDS of Octomum Mandy Allwood raised a glass to her as she was cremated yesterday.
Mandy, who was pregnant with eight babies before losing them all in 1996, died of cancer aged 56.
Close family told The Sun they would not be at her pauper’s funeral, funded by the council in Redditch, Worcs.
Undertaker Nigel Peace brought the flowers back to her favourite pub where pals Mark Beard and Samantha Moore raised a glass of white wine, Mandy’s drink of choice.
Mark, 58, landlord of the Yard of Ale in Stratford-upon-Avon said: “Unfortunately, we weren’t allowed at the funeral. But a big group of us who knew her are here. We wanted to give Mandy a proper send-off. One that she deserves.”
The pub plans to honour Mandy with a plaque.
Barmaid Samantha, 42, added: “She had a favourite spot where she’d sit. You could always hear her coming. She had such a contagious laugh. We’ll miss her a lot.”
Mandy’s life spiralled out of control after the loss of her babies.
