I sobbed when fly-tippers dumped dog poo and rotting rubbish in my garden – I’m 82 and too frail to pick it up
AN ELDERLY lady wept after fly-tippers broke in and dumped dog mess and rotting rubbish in her back garden.
Sheila Crompton, 82, was captured on camera breaking down as she stood beside black bin bags piled higher than her waist.
Crooks broke into her Bolton home through a gate to dump mounds of waste.
The vile criminals left heavy building materials, a hamster cage, rotting paper and dog poo bags.
Sheila, who supported herself by leaning against a wall of her home during the heart-wrenching clip, is too frail to remove the rubbish herself.
But after a Good Samaritan heard of her plight, he took it upon himself to help.
Gordon Campbell, 48, spent a full day clearing Sheila’s garden and taking the waste to the tip.

He told the Manchester Evening News: “It was horrendous.
“It was a day of hell.
“When we got there, we could see the gate was open.
“No one had considered to put a lock on the back gate.
“In the environment we live in and her being vulnerable, that’s unbelievable.

“There was dog excrement everywhere, which is why I washed the place down afterwards.
“The rubbish was all sorts of junk; plastic cardboard, really heavy building materials in bags, someone’s hamster cage.
“There was disgusting rotting paper and people had been throwing dog poo bags in.
“People knew her gate was open so if they had junk, they could just chuck it round the corner.
“I reckon it’s been going on for a couple of years.”

Gordon, who is currently running as a candidate for the council, said Sheila found it “upsetting” no one was coming to help her and felt “let down”.
“She was really upset and said she was struggling,” he said.
“She found it very upsetting that no one was coming to help her.”
Sheila told the newspaper Gordon’s help had been “absolutely brilliant”.
“I was upset and annoyed,” she said.
