The UFC is back in its home base after a week off, and there’s a middleweight matchup at the top of the card.
UFC Fight Night 200 takes place Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The card streams on ESPN+.
(Click here to open a PDF of the staff picks grid in a separate window.)
In the main event, Jack Hermansson (22-6 MMA, 9-4 UFC) takes on the streaking Sean Strickland (24-3 MMA, 11-3 UFC), who has won five straight fights. Strickland is a sizable -230 favorite at Tipico; the comeback on Hermansson is +175. Our 12 editors, writers, radio hosts and videographers are backing Strickland nearly unanimously at an 11-1 clip.
In the co-feature, Nick Maximov (7-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) meets Punahele Soriano (8-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) in another middleweight matchup. Soriano is a 2-1 favorite, and he’s got a big 10-2 lead in the picks.
Also on the main card, Shavkat Rakhmonov (14-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) is a -240 favorite over Carlston Harris (17-4 MMA, 2-0 UFC) in their welterweight fight, and he’s the lone unanimous pick from our staff members.
Brendan Allen (17-5 MMA, 5-2 UFC) was a late replacement to take on Sam Alvey (33-16-1 MMA, 10-11-1 UFC) in a fight that was moved to light heavyweight on account of the late-notice booking for Allen. He’s the biggest favorite on the card at -450 and has a 10-2 edge in our picks.
Bryan Battle (6-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) meets Tresean Gore (3-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) in a fight that was supposed to be the “Ultimate Fighter 29” middleweight finale. Gore is a -170 favorite, but our picks are dead even at 6-6.
And to open the main card, Julian Erosa (26-9 MMA, 4-5 UFC) fights Steven Peterson (19-9 MMA, 3-3 UFC) at featherweight. Erosa is a sizable favorite at the betting window at -320, and he’s got a big 10-2 lead in the picks from our crew.
In the MMA Junkie reader consensus picks, Strickland (67 percent), Soriano (54 percent), Rakhmonov (86 percent), Allen (N/A), Gore (52 percent) and Erosa (77 percent) are the choices.
