Pokémon Legends: Arceus - How To Evolve Hisuian Voltorb

0

Pokémon Legends: Arceus has introduced both new Pokémon and new variants such as Hisuian Voltorb, which evolves differently from the original Kanto Voltorb. Similar to the Hisuian variants of Pokémon, Hisuian Voltorb has a new typing that hasn't been seen in previous games. While the Pokémon retain its Electric-typing that the Kantoian Voltorb has, Hisusian Voltorb is also a Grass-type. Furthermore, when Hisuian Voltorb evolves into Legends: Arceus' Electrode variant, Hisuian Electrode is an Electric- and Grass-type Pokémon as well.

Hisuian Voltorb's unique dual-typing changes a lot from the Kantoian Voltorb, beginning with the fact that it no longer has a weakness to Ground-type moves. In fact, Hisuian Voltorb's Grass-typing means that it can use moves like Energy Ball to perform 2x damage against Ground-type Pokémon, as well as Rock-types. However, Hisuian Voltorb's typing no longer allows it to resist Flying-type moves, and it gains additional weaknesses to Bug-, Fire-, Ice-, and Poison-type attacks.

In previous games, players could evolve Voltorb into Electrode once the Pokémon reaches level 30, but its Hisuian evolution method is completely different. Similar to how only male Kirlia evolves with a Dawn Stone, the Pokémon Legends: Arceus version of Voltorb is unique because it can only evolve with a Leaf Stone. While not many Pokémon require the Leaf Stone to evolve, Hisuian Voltorb makes the item useful once more with its ability to be evolved into Hisuian Electrode. Additionally, since Eevee can use the Mossy Rock to evolve into Leafeon and Petilil uses the Sun Stone to evolve into Hisuian Lilligant, Hisuian Voltorb is the only Pokémon in Legends: Arceus that needs a Leaf Stone to evolve.

Like all other evolutionary items, players can easily buy a Leaf Stone in Pokémon Legends: Arceus from the Trading Post in Jubilife Village for 1,000 Merit Points. Merit Points are earned by connecting to the internet and finding and returning the satchels of players who have blacked out in the field. It's the same method that players would use to purchase a Moon Stone in Pokémon Legends: Arceus in order to evolve Clefairy into Clefable. A Leaf Stone is also a guaranteed reward for completing Request 73: "Which is the Real Burmy?"

Alternatively, players can get their hands on a Leaf Stone in Pokémon Legends: Arceus by destroying ores in the field or finding them in Space-Time Distortions. Both methods are completely randomized, however. So, it's entirely possible that players may be on the hunt for a Leaf Stone for a long time in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
