Spider-Man Remastered Screenshot Looks Good Enough To Be A Poster

0

A talented web artist has recently posted an impressive Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered screenshot that could easily pass for a movie poster or comic book cover. Insomniac’s open-world take on the Spider-Man mythos has earned critical acclaim for many reasons, including solid web-swinging transversal gameplay and an emotional plot that masterfully reflects on Spidey’s classic themes of power and responsibility with a modern slant. Marvel’s Spider-Man also had impressive graphics when it first launched on the PlayStation 4 in 2018, and this was enhanced further in the subsequent Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered for the PlayStation 5, to the point that some fans have mistaken screenshots for real-life cosplay.

The impressive graphics are most apparent in Marvel’s Spider-Man’s Photo Mode, which allows players to take vivid and humorous pictures of Spidey in action during standard gameplay. Some creative users have taken advantage of this feature to reenact classic Spider-Man movie moments from films like Spider-Man 2 and The Amazing Spider-Man or recreate game art for past Spider-Man games like 2010’s Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. One fan even designed a poster for Spider-Man: No Way Home that was created using the many alternate movie costumes players can wear to fight crime and explore the streets of New York City in Marvel’s Spider-Man.

Twitter user and virtual photographer JLvanderwal recently posted a screenshot from Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered showing Spidey as he takes a leap of faith toward a well-lit bridge at night. Accompanying this breathtaking image is a quote from Spider-Man: No Way Home, in which Doc Ock tells Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, “You're out flying into the darkness to fight ghosts.” JLvanderwal has posted plenty of visually stunning screenshots from both Marvel’s Spider-Man and its 2020 spin-off Spider-Man: Miles Morales, but what makes this particular post noteworthy is that it has captured the attention of Insomniac. The developer retweeted the image not long after it was posted earlier this week. Other players in the comments section have also praised JLvanderwal’s work, prompting the artist to post humorous GIFs in gratitude.

This wave of impressive Spider-Man screenshots and custom fan posters will likely continue when Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launches sometime in 2023. Insomniac first revealed the highly-anticipated sequel during September’s PlayStation Showcase Livestream with an ominous Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 trailer that featured Peter and Miles having a chilling encounter with Venom. Since then, details about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 have slowly started to emerge, with rumors hinting at appearances from classic Spidey villains like Mysterio and the Lizard and alternate Symbiote variants for every available suit.

In the meantime, fans continue to use Photo Mode to put together impressive images of Spidey in Marvel’s Spider-Man. JLvanderwal’s amazing screenshot of the web-slinging hero leaping toward his latest adventure would only need a logo at the bottom to pass for a Spider-Man movie poster. It’s just another example of how Insomniac’s well-crafted Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered is keeping fans engaged and entertained four years after the original first swung onto the PlayStation 4, even as they look forward to the Webhead’s next virtual battle in 2023.
