Breath of the Wild Player Finds Invisible Lava Puddle

0

A Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild player recently came across an invisible lava puddle out in the middle of the vast open world of Hyrule. Lava is just one of the many different hazards Link braves in his latest quest to gather the ancient Champions of Hyrule and save the kingdom from the threat of Calamity Ganon, but it is usually confined to certain volcanic areas like Death Mountain and Eldin Canyon.

However, one thing fans have learned in the nearly five years since The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild first launched on the Nintendo Switch to near-universal acclaim is that pretty much anything is possible in the world of Hyrule. Players have uncovered many interesting tricks and details within BOTW, such as how sheep will huddle together when it rains and how the Yiga Clan will steal BOTW’s powerful Obliterator weapon. Various glitches have also resulted in Link being temporarily distracted from a battle against a pair of Guardians by a mischievous Korok, and an enemy Lizalfos was seen spinning around like Crash Bandicoot.

Reddit user TurtleLlama1983 recently posted a strange gameplay clip to r/Zelda, one that sees Link stumble across a small, invisible lava puddle just outside the Colosseum Ruins in Hyrule Field. Although the ground beneath Link's feet looks as normal as ever, a splash of lava forms whenever the hero jumps, and he takes a small percentage of damage just as he would if he fell into a stream of molten magma in Legend of Zelda's Eldin region. Stranger still, the invisible lava puddle seemingly vanishes after Link readies his shield for a moment, being replaced by an equally-hidden puddle of water. Other players in the comment section have noted that they have also come across this strange phenomenon in the same location as TurtleLlama1983’s clip, while others have joked about there being a “baby volcano” underneath Link’s feet. Comparisons have also been made to cobblestone generators fans build in Minecraft.

As fans continue to uncover strange things while playing The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, Nintendo is slowly pulling back the curtain on its upcoming sequel, which was announced after years of speculation during last year’s E3 2021 livestream event. Although much about this tentatively-titled Breath Of The Wild 2 is still unknown, some players are speculating on what areas Nintendo can improve on from the already well-received original - such as streamlining BOTW’s crafting systems or adding the ability to call upon Link’s trusty horse from anywhere in Hyrule.

Meanwhile, Link should probably watch his step while exploring The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild’s open-world version of Hyrule, as it seems a dangerous stream of lava can form up in the most unexpected of places. BOTW continues to captivate players with new discoveries even five years after its initial release, and it is this unpredictability and replay value that has led the latest Zelda game to be considered one of the best Nintendo Switch titles of all time - with record-breaking sales figures to match.
