Minecraft Monopoly Board Looks Real Enough To Buy | Screen Rant
An artistic Minecraft fan has crafted a custom Monopoly board based on Mojang's hit survival sandbox game. The beloved economics-themed board game, which tasks players with aggressively buying property to bankrupt other players, has become synonymous with addicting and highly-competitive board games. There exist many different versions of the board game, such as Animal Crossing: New Horizons Monopoly, which are themed after various film and video game properties.
The massive success of Monopoly has led to many different themed editions, although the basic rules of the game tend to remain the same. Players roll dice in order to move their unique chosen pieces a set amount of spaces around the board, and landing on a piece of available property allows the player to purchase it. However, landing on someone else's property forces the player to pay a fine, while landing on Chance or Community Chest can lead to positive or negative consequences. Alternate editions of Monopoly maintain these basic rules while also changing certain aspects, like player pieces and property names, to reflect the theme. For example, a Fall Guys edition of Monopoly will turn the game pieces into characters from the platform Battle royale game.
Combining two beloved game franchises, Reddit user Just_Sk1es has created a custom Minecraft version of Monopoly. The unique board, dubbed Minecropoly, contains the survival sandbox game's most iconic items and locations. Purchasable properties are swapped with biomes like desert and lava ocean, with jail being replaced by the demonic realm of The Nether. The Community Chest card deck is appropriately replaced by a Loot Chest, and the entire board is styled to resemble an iconic block of Minecraft dirt.
While Monopoly is perhaps the most popular board game in the world, other video games have received their very own physical adaptations. Although the massively multiplayer online role-playing game was first released in 2001, a RuneScape tabletop and board game kickstarter was just recently launched by Steamforged. The board game adaptation of the beloved MMORPG will allow up to five players to embark on a journey complete with quests, skill leveling and equipment improvement. While RuneScape will not receive its own unique version of Monopoly, the board game will bring the fantasy adventure to life in an entirely new way.
Just_Sk1es' Minecraft edition of Monopoly is extremely authentic, perfectly reflecting how an economics-based board game version of Mojang's survival sandbox might look. Replacing properties with the game's various biomes is very fitting, and making the entire board look like a dirt block is very creative. There exist many alternate editions of Monopoly, and Just_Sk1es' Minecraft version could easily become an actual game.
Minecraft is available on all platforms.
