Uncharted 4: How To Navigate the Death Maze | Screen Rant
The Uncharted games are home to a wide variety of intricate puzzles, such as the Death Maze puzzle found in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. The Death Maze puzzle is found during the last portion of Chapter 19: Avery’s Descent. The Death Maze puzzle is at the end of the chapter, standing in the way between Nathan, Elena, and the other side of a vast cavern. Players must make their way across the Death Maze puzzle without triggering any of the lethal traps to finish the chapter.
There are multiple death traps scattered throughout Chapter 19 that Henry Avery built as a deterrent against visitors. The Death Maze trap is the final test for Nathan and Elena after facing an entirely booby-trapped cave. Although the Death Maze is much more dangerous than Uncharted 4's Clock Tower Puzzle, it's still possible to decipher. After facing the initial death traps made by Avery, players will end up in a room with a decorated mermaid figurehead. Just past this room, players will find the Death Maze trap in Uncharted 4: A Thief's End after gathering the hidden treasure in a barrel.
Not unlike other puzzles in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, players must analyze the environment to reach success. For example, the Death Maze puzzle in Chapter 19 requires players to use a note to conquer the trap. Keen players may recognize the pattern of the squares on the ground are similar to a pattern drawn on a note by Henry Avery. However, unlike Uncharted 4's Zodiac Puzzle, players must use this previously-acquired note to solve the puzzle. Players received the relevant note earlier in Chapter 19.
Earlier in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, players received a note created long ago by Henry Avery. The note features a letter on the front with images drawn on the backside. The images consist of three squares divided into four portions each. Each square has a symbol in the middle: skull and crossbones, a ship, or three crosses. The four portions of the squares are filled in blank or with an image of a black skull. The symbols in the middle of the squares coincide with three posts jutting out of the Death Maze. The portions of the squares that are blank indicate safe spots, and the portions with skulls indicate lethal traps. Like the Wheel of Founders puzzle in Uncharted 4, players must use the symbols to decipher the puzzle's solution.
Players must use the note to decipher which portions of the Death Maze puzzle are safe to walk across. The solution to the Death Maze puzzle is the following pattern:
- Start on the second square from the left wall.
- Head forward three spaces.
- Head right three spaces.
- Head forward one space.
- Head right one space.
- Head forward one space to reach the end of the Death Maze puzzle.
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is available in the Legacy of Thieves Collection on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
