The Adam Project Release Date, News & Updates: Everything We Know
The Adam Project, starring Ryan Reynolds, is an upcoming time travel adventure movie for Netflix; here's the release date & details.
One of Netflix's upcoming original movies, The Adam Project, is highly anticipated for bringing back the director/actor team of Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds that created the hugely popular Free Guy in 2021. Likewise, after the similar smash success of Reynolds' previous Netflix project with The Rock, Red Notice, it looks like The Adam Project is well-poised to draw in a lot of viewers when it drops on Netflix in 2022. Many of Netflix's impending projects are still a bit of a mystery, but some information is certain when it comes to Reynold's time travel film.
The recently released teaser reveals Netflix's 2022 movies through a series of fourth-wall-breaking clips and titles, which includes everything from Knives Out 2 to Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio. Among the wide range of genres featured in the teaser, there are several sci-fi projects in the works featuring big names, such as Halle Berry in The Mothership, John Boyega and Jamie Foxx in They Cloned Tyrone, and Chris Hemsworth in Escape From Spiderhead. Reynolds and his time travel adventure The Adam Project are thus in good company, as it seems Netflix is committed to a stacked slate of high-quality genre productions.
In true teaser fashion, Netflix hasn't given away much about its 2022 roster other than that it will be extensive, genre-diverse, and big-budget. However, some details are available about The Adam Project. Here's a guide to everything that's known so far.
As one of the most imminent of Netflix's upcoming sci-fi movies, The Adam Project is also one of few titles with a confirmed release date. Most of the Netflix originals revealed in the teaser have only rough estimates of when they'll release in 2022. The Adam Project, however, will release specifically on March 11, and of course, it will be exclusively available on Netflix.
Naturally, The Adam Project stars Ryan Reynolds in the eponymous role of Adam, with Walker Scobell playing his 12-year old self from the past. Mark Ruffalo also features prominently as Adam's late father. But The Adam Project's A-list cast doesn't end there, as it includes Zoe Saldana, Jennifer Garner, and Catherine Keener as well.
According to the information Netflix has released so far about the upcoming Ryan Reynolds movie, The Adam Project is a time travel story that sees Reynolds' character crash-land in 2022 and recruit his younger self to help with a high-stakes mission to save the future. Also roped in is the two Adams' father, who has passed away in Reynolds' time, which means The Adam Project is sure to deliver as much poignant father-son bonding and healing as it does sci-fi action and intrigue. While Reynolds is known for comedy and action, he can also deliver a lot of heart, too.
As of now, the only Adam Project footage that's been released is what's in the Netflix 2022 movies trailer. Through brief glimpses, the teaser shows Adam and young Adam in the woods at night looking up at a glowing ship, Adam wielding what looks like a lightsaber crossed with a spear, and later flying the ship while young Adam screams in the backseat. There's also a clip in which both Adams and Ruffalo stand in an elevator, and Reynolds breaks the fourth wall by telling the camera to "feel like a kid again." Although this is the only content so far, The Adam Project may very well get a fuller trailer closer to its release date.
