[Softball] Hawks Split Home Opener With Golden Eagles

SANTEE, Calif. – The San Diego Christian College Hawks softball team kicked off their 2022 campaign with a home doubleheader split with the visiting La Sierra Golden Eagles on Friday at the Sportsplex.

Game 1

The Hawks took game one 8-3 behind a courageous complete-game pitching effort from ace, Amaryssa Medina. Scattering 6 hits over 7 innings, Medina added 6 strikeouts while only walking 4.

In addition to her amazing pitching, Medina helped herself by going 3-for-4 with a homer, 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored.

The SDCC sticks were hot across the order as well. Newcomers, Maya Abrego went 2-for-4 with a double, Marley Rimoldi had a 2 RBI single and Hailey Morgan-Voyce was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Veterans Jodi Thomasian and Alicia Corona each crushed doubles in the effort.

Game 2

After a great game one display, the San Diego Christian offense could not gain any momentum or take advantage of opportunities in game two, falling 2-13 to the visiting Golden Eagles.

Maya Abrego contributed another double for SDCC and Lisette Mejias went 2-for-3, but the team struggled to put anything together offensively. A few defensive miscues hamstrung the Hawks as well.

UP NEXT

The Hawks travel to Lancaster, CA, to take on the University of Antelope Valley Pioneers on Tuesday, February 8. The doubleheader begins at noon.
