"There is no certainty that the foreign travellers brought the Omicron variant with them to Assam and the northeast. Most of the foreign returnees tested Covid positive on the eighth day of staying in isolation. Many of them may have got infected while in Assam," a senior official of the state health department told TOI on Saturday.
