Batman: Arkham Knight Glitch Gives Robin Force Powers
A recently-discovered Batman: Arkham Knight glitch allows Robin to use the Force of Star Wars fame on the criminals of Gotham City. The third and final installment of Rocksteady’s critically-acclaimed series of Batman games was released in 2015, pitting the Dark Knight against a sinister team of the Scarecrow and the titular Arkham Knight on a dark and stormy Halloween night. While Arkham Knight was not as well-received as previous installments like Batman: Arkham City, many fans still enjoyed that game’s plot for further bringing Batman’s assortment of sidekicks and partners into the spotlight.
This includes Tim Drake/Robin, who previously appeared in a small cameo in 2011’s Batman: Arkham City before gaining further prominence in the Harley Quinn’s Revenge DLC. In Arkham Knight, Tim has settled into a controversial relationship with fellow crimefighter Barbara Gordon, aka Oracle, and players could temporarily take control of him as he assisted Batman in tracking down those infected by the Joker’s insanity-inducing blood. Having both members of the famed Dynamic Duo working together in one of Rocksteady’s video games was a treat for longtime comic book fans, and some eagle-eyed players have noticed some slight AI touches that illustrated how Robin is still learning from Batman at the time of Arkham Knight.
It appears that Robin has picked up a few tricks from the Mark Hamill-voiced Joker as well, at least according to a glitch uncovered by Reddit user pranklimulator. They posted a couple of Batman: Arkham Knight gameplay clips to the BatmanArkham subreddit (via Game Rant) that show Robin sneaking around in a stealth-based Predator Challenge map. The Boy Wonder moves to disarm one of the Arkham Knight's remote-operated turrets, but as he tears the machine apart a stealth takedown is triggered on one of the nearby guards. This causes the hired goon to bend over backward in a choking fit, not unlike the kind seen when Force-sensitive characters like Darth Vader use the Force Choke in Star Wars.
Tim Drake is set to return as Robin in Gotham Knights, a new game from Batman: Arkham Origins that will serve as a reboot of the Batman: Arkham storyline. In a setup very similar to the end of Batman: Arkham Knight, Gotham Knights takes place after the mysterious death of Bruce Wayne and will put players in the roles of his former sidekicks Nightwing, Batgirl, Red Hood, and Robin as they join together to defend Gotham against a secret society known as the Court Of Owls. Gotham Knights will retain the popular stealth and combat gameplay that made Rocksteady’s Arkham series so successful, with the addition of a two-player Gotham Knights co-op mode to allow friends to join forces against classic comic book villains like The Penguin and Mr. Freeze.
Robin probably won’t be able to unleash any Force powers on his enemies in Gotham Knights, but Tim pulling a move straight out of Star Wars in Batman: Arkham Knight is an interesting sight to behold. It isn't clear if the glitch that causes Robin to Force choke his enemies only occurs with him or if it can be performed with other playable characters like Catwoman, Azrael, or even Batman himself, but it looks like the Force is with the defenders of Gotham City.
