Law & Order: Organized Crime Casts Amazing Spider-Man’s Denis Leary
Denis Leary has joined the cast of Law & Order: Organized Crime season 2. Produced by Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television, Organized Crime is the seventh series in the Law & Order franchise and was co-created by Dick Wolf, the mastermind behind the franchise. After premiering on NBC on April 1, 2021, the 8-episode first season proved to be a hit and NBC renewed Law & Order: Organized Crime for a 24-episode season 2, which began airing in September 2021.
A host of stars have joined for season 2 of the show, including Flashdance actress Jennifer Beals and, according to reports from Deadline, Leary is the latest star to join the series. The 64-year-old actor has been cast in a recurring role as Frank Donnelly, a member of the NYPD who will share scenes with Christopher Meloni's Detective Stabler. This marks the first franchise appearance for Massachusetts-born Leary, who first rose to prominence as a successful stand-up comedian, before appearing in movies such as The Amazing Spider-Man and its sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Joining a successful and popular franchise is bound to be a positive for Leary, who is well versed at working in television, having created successful FX comedy-drama Rescue Me, and joining the cast of Animal Kingdom season 3. It's unclear right now how many seasons Law & Order: Organized Crime might run, but if Leary's character proves to be a hit with viewers, he could find himself returning again in later episodes of the show.
