Another Dancing on Ice star forced to pull out of tonight’s show as replacement is brought in
DANCING On Ice commentator Sam Matterface has been forced to pull out of tonight’s show as he is replaced for the first time.
The ITV show will instead be commentated by Alex Crook – as Stephen Mulhern takes over Phillip Schofield’s role as co-host alongside Holly Willoughby.
Phillip, 59, has been ruled out after testing positive for Covid on Monday night and may not be able to front This Morning tomorrow.
Sam, who is the channel’s main football summariser, 43, was needed to work on ITV’s coverage of the FA Cup clash between Liverpool and Cardiff earlier today.
Alex, a star of the talkSPORT radio station, said he has already lined up a range of puns about Rachel Stevens and Kimberley Wyatt.
He vowed to commentate tonight with “all the Matterface cheese with a bit of Crook thrown in”.
Sam told his followers he was out of the show in a video posted on social media today, saying: “Tonight, Dancing on Ice returns and I’m not going to be there.
“I’m doing Liverpool versus Cardiff at lunchtime. Alex Crook is picking up the mic.”

Addressing his replacement over a two-way link-up, he asked: “Are you excited – I think you’re already there aren’t you?”
Replying from the series’ Bovingdon base he said: “I am – bright and early. I’ve just invaded what used to be your dressing room – I’m not sure it is any more.”
Sam said: “OK you’ve already got your name above the door, you’ve got your feet under the table have you?”

Alex said: “I have – I’ve filled your wardrobe. There’s my attire for this evening, nice suit and waistcoat number. And is this your coffee cup?”
Sam said: “Yeah it is” with Alex hitting back: “Not any more.”
Dancing on Ice returns to ITV tonight at 6pm
