The Boys’ Version of Wolverine Would Be Destroyed By the Original
The satirical comic book series The Boys has a number of parody superhero characters mocking the original versions, though oftentimes those parodies are way less powerful, which is exactly the case when it comes to The Boys’ version of Wolverine. Ground Hawk is a member of the G-Men, The Boys’ mockery of the X-Men, and he is also The Boys’ answer to Wolverine. While the similarities are striking between Wolverine and Ground Hawk, The Boys’ version would be absolutely destroyed by the original.
Ground Hawk made his comic book debut in The Boys #24 by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. In the issue, Hughie has gone undercover with an affiliated G-Men team and he is meeting the main group for the first time. Ground Hawk is one of the G-Men who greets Hughie and the others upon their arrival, but fans don’t get to see what Ground Hawk is truly made out of until a few issues later, and apparently it isn’t much.
In The Boys #29, Ground Hawk, along with every other member of the G-Men, are going up against the Boys in a final standoff. Seemingly out of nowhere, mercenaries working for Vought-American show up and gun down the G-Men, killing every single one of them including Ground Hawk. A reign of bullets was enough to kill The Boys’ version of Wolverine, which makes it pretty clear he would have no chance against Marvel’s original Wolverine. Wolverine has a healing factor, one that Ground Hawk evidently doesn’t share. Any wound Ground Hawk could lay on Wolverine wouldn’t do any permanent damage, but a few stabs and slices would assuredly put Ground Hawk down for good, especially if bullets were enough to do the trick.
Not only is Wolverine easily stronger than Ground Hawk in terms of how much abuse his body can take without dying, but his signature weapons are profoundly more effective. Instead of hands, Ground Hawk has two hammers permanently grafted to his arms which is a clear jab at Wolverine’s claws. While a funny parody, Ground Hawk would be rendered nearly useless if he were to be faced against the original.
From dying via gunshot wounds to the pathetic weapons he wields, Ground Hawk is a pathetic knock-off version of Wolverine that doesn’t even come close to his power level. Luckily for Ground Hawk, he was never meant to be an effective warrior like Wolverine. Ground Hawk’s entire purpose is to make fun of Wolverine by being as dumb and overly exaggerated as possible. However, if the two were to ever meet across the spectrum of the infinite multiverse, The Boys’ version of Wolverine would be destroyed by the original.
