Johnny's Eagle Fang Could Become Cobra Kai Season 5's Strongest Dojo
In Cobra Kai season 5, Johnny Lawrence’s Eagle Fang Karate could become the strongest dojo in the Valley. Throughout the previous season, Eagle Fang was arguably the weakest of the three. However, the events in the season 4 finale may have set up a significant change in the balance of power between the three dojos.
During Cobra Kai season 4’s All Valley Karate Tournament, Eagle Fang was held back by its obvious lack of formidable fighters. By Johnny’s own admission, Miguel was his best and only chance of winning. Johnny’s absurd suggestion about letting Mitch fight in the girls’ division made it abundantly clear that he didn’t have the same level of talent as the other two dojos. The gap between Miguel and the other students was massive, with Mitch and newcomer Devon being his next-best fighters. That was in stark contrast to the situation with Miyagi-do and Cobra Kai. Each dojo had multiple weapons it could rely on. Cobra Kai had Kyler, Kenny, Robby, and Tory, while Miyagi-do was supported by Dimitri, Hawk, and Sam.
Johnny will have an opportunity to turn things around in Cobra Kai season 5. Developments in the season 4 finale may have set up a scenario where his dojo scoops up Kreese and Silver’s two best students. Johnny’s last conversation with Robby suggested that a complete reconciliation may be on its way, which would negate Robby’s reasons for being in Cobra Kai. As Robby said in season 4, he has no real loyalty to Kreese. He was just using Cobra Kai to help him win the tournament and get even with Johnny and Daniel. As for Tory, she too could be on her way out of Cobra Kai. She knows that Silver cheated to ensure her victory, plus the villain just ousted Kreese from the dojo. Since Kreese was her true mentor, she’ll have very little motivation to remain with Cobra Kai when season 5 begins.
Assuming that neither character quits karate altogether, the dojo that makes the most sense for both Robby and Tory is Eagle Fang. Tory going over to Miyagi-do feels unlikely, especially since Daniel’s beliefs would conflict greatly with her aggressive style. If she goes over to Eagle Fang instead, Robby could follow her, given that his strained relationship with Johnny was the biggest obstacle toward them training together. If Johnny manages to land not one, but both of these characters, he’ll have a huge advantage over the other two dojos.
If that happens – and Johnny successfully convinces Miguel to return from Mexico – he’ll have three championship-worthy students fighting on his side in Cobra Kai season 5. Devon made impressive progress in the short time she was around, so she has the potential to be a fourth weapon for the dojo. Eagle Fang had only one in season 4’s tournament, and it cost them tremendously. If there’s a shift in Johnny’s favor, the next competition could play out very differently. With Robby, Tory, Miguel (and possibly Devon), there’s no question about which dojo would have the better roster.
