Star Wars Art Imagines What Finn Would Look Like as a Jedi Master

0

Star Wars fan art perfectly imagines what Finn could've looked like as a Jedi Master. The Star Wars franchise in its current state might be focusing more on television, but just a few years ago it was all about movies. When Disney initially purchased Lucasfilm and revived Star Wars, it revisited the Skywalker saga with a new trilogy of films, starting with 2015's The Force AwakensIn introducing new characters to stand alongside those like Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Disney sought to recapture the magic of the original movies in a big way.

The results on that front are rather mixed, but there's no question that The Force Awakens introduced some compelling characters to the Star Wars universe. One such character is John Boyega's Finn, a former Stormtrooper who defects and becomes a key member of the Resistance against the villainous First Order. The Force Awakens positioned Finn to be a fascinating hero for this new Star Wars era, though later installments began shifting him to the side, something Boyega famously spoke out against following the release of the trilogy's final movie, 2019's The Rise of Skywalker.

Throughout the sequel trilogy's run, there are several clues suggesting Finn is actually Force-sensitive. The Rise of Skywalker director J.J. Abrams later confirmed this to be true, and since then, fans have been especially enamored with the idea of Finn becoming a proper Jedi. Artist Andres Bellorin took things a step further and created some concept art for Finn's Jedi Master look. It's an incredible design that gives Finn a distinct style that contains a major nod to his role in the Resistance. In this imagined scenario, Finn has a green lightsaber too. Check it out below.

Boyega has been open about his disappointment with the direction Finn's arc went in as the Star Wars sequel trilogy progressed. Many fans are in agreement, since his story was eventually reduced to him becoming more of a sidekick in the grand scheme of things. Finn's Force-sensitivity demonstrates this; it was hinted at repeatedly in The Rise of Skywalker, yet was never allowed to become its own thing. Seeing a Stormtrooper rise up to become a Jedi Master would've been a great story if it was allowed to progress that way, but sadly, it's just fodder for the fans at this point.

Last year, Boyega confirmed he would be open to a Star Wars return in the future if Abrams was a part of it. For all his criticisms with how the franchise went, Boyega said he's open to having a conversation with the creative heads of Star Wars, which could perhaps pave the way for a continuation of Finn's story. That would be a great way to give the character his due, but as it stands now, it just makes really great fan art.
