Pokémon Legends: Arceus Players Share Best Alpha Catches
Catching Alpha Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is a solid challenge no matter where players are at in gameplay, and many are showing off their favorite catches on Twitter. Alpha Pokémon, which are much larger and stronger than standard common encounters throughout the Hisui region, can be powerful assets to any Pokémon team. Because of this, finding these Pokémon both in their standard variation and as Shiny variants has become a new challenge for players to focus on.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus has put a fresh and exciting spin on the Pokémon game series with new open-world-inspired gameplay and quest-driven narrative. Players are able to wander five vast map locations that make up Pokémon's historic Hisui region, exploring caves, plains, and bodies of water in search of Pokémon to capture. Scattered throughout the map, players will find both static and random Alpha Pokémon encounters. Static encounters will always possess an Alpha Pokémon when players leave and return to the location, whereas all other Pokémon have a small chance of randomly spawning as Alpha, keeping players on their toes as they travel.
In a post created by the Pokémon Twitter account, players have been encouraged to share "best and biggest alpha Pokémon catches" in the comments. Players have posted both pictures and gameplay footage of harrowing encounters with super-sized, red-eyed Pokémon, as well as comparison shots of their character next to massive companions once they have been caught. Punisher10670 has shared a post of a Gardevoir towering over their character, while S_Deli has shared a beautiful look at a cuddly, Shiny Hisuian Zorua that is comically large compared to the standard size of Zoura. These special catches add another layer of achievement to Pokémon captures, giving players further goals to set both during the main storyline and in post-game exploration.
Shiny hunting Alpha Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is made extra rewarding thanks to the inclusion of overworld Shiny appearances. In Pokémon Sword and Shield, despite locations like routes and the Wild Area utilizing overworld spawning Pokémon, Shiny variations were only detectable when encountered by the player. Pokémon Legends: Arceus' choice to include overworld Shiny spawns allows players to more easily spot the rare, alternatively colored Pokémon variations, leading to more players finding and catching them to add to teams. It also makes the process of Shiny hunting Alpha Pokémon more rewarding, as players can see before jumping into the battle that the encounter will be extra special.
Players also have the ability to find extra small Pokémon species, though these do not appear as Alphas. The extra-small Pokémon can usually be spotted more easily during Pokémon Legends: Arceus' Mass Outbreaks, which appear randomly throughout the Hisui region, and offer short bursts of time where a certain species spawns with heightened frequency. Mass Outbreaks also boost Shiny odds, giving Pokémon Legends: Arceus players a good chance of finding a tiny Shiny. With so many variations to Pokémon in the game, each catch can feel special and unique as players explore the region.
