I was bitten by huge RAT in my back garden… I’m too petrified to go back out there and I’ve begged the council for help

A WOMAN bitten by huge rat in her back garden says she’s too petrified to go out there again and has begged the council for help.

Michelle Dudley , 41, was outside in the garden of her Sandwell Council-owned Bungalow in Tipton, Birmingham, when she took a bad fall within her first year at the property.

She is desperate for her garden to be fixed up after living in her Birmingham bungalow for the last four years[/caption]

She says she felt a bite on her finger and had to have a tetanus injection after seeing a rat.

Michelle claims she tripped because the garden is sloped and says she might have not taken the property but wasn’t given much time to decide whether she wanted it or not.

She told the Birmingham Mail: “I had 30 minutes to make up my mind on this bungalow so I took it,” Miss Dudley added. “There’s a great big slope in the garden, I fell down that and was bitten by a rat.

“I was a bit stunned for a bit and felt this bite on my finger and saw the rat under my neighbour’s fence. It was all a bit of a shock. I bumped my head on a concrete fence stump in the garden.

“The garden was infested with rats and I’ve got a phobia of them. My dad had to keep coming and moving them from the garden.”

Michelle, who is disabled, has lived in the bungalow for the last four years and would like the council to help her tidy up the garden.

A Sandwell Council spokesman said: “The council did receive and respond to requests from this tenant for pest control services in 2019. There have been no further requests since then”

If residents require pest control services they are urged to book through the council website or contact centre.

The spokesman said: “We have carried out some remedial work on the garden, and we will make arrangements to visit the tenant to discuss any outstanding concerns.”

The Sun has approached Sandwell Council for additional comment.
