Teen Wolf: The Worst Ship In Each Season | Screen Rant
Along with any other teen drama, Teen Wolf introduced an abundance of romantic relationships that had fans rooting for them from the very beginning. When the characters weren't fighting off supervillains and saving Beacon Hills, they were engulfed in teenage love with all the ups and downs that come with it.
While some of the relationships in the series were sublime, others fell on the complete opposite side of the scale, and each season has at least one couple that stood out from the rest as a complete mismatch.
The relationship between Lydia and Jackson in the first season of the show can only be described as toxic. As the it-couple of Beacon Hills High, they seemed like the perfect pair. But as viewers start to learn more about them, it becomes evident that their relationship was riddled with insecurities and muffled disdain.
During their relationship, Lydia had to conceal how smart she really was, to avoid provoking Jackson's inferiority complex, while Jackson was always quick to put the blame on her every time something went wrong. With their equally short tempers and their desire to preserve their reputation and popularity, it's fair to say that they brought out the worst in each other.
After Erica turned into a werewolf she gained a massive boost of confidence and the courage to admit that she had feelings for Stiles for years. Stiles was shocked by this revelation and the two seemed to get closer during the season. However, as they were on opposite sides of the feud between Derek and Scott's packs, they never had the chance to develop their relationship or explore their feelings any further.
They never actually dated and the speckles of chemistry between them were not enough to get fans to root for the pair. In fact, most of them rejoiced over the latency of their relationship.
It was easy to root for Jennifer and Derek at first. The two seemed to hit it off quite well, and their intertwined histories made their relationship look like fate. However, as Jennifer's true nature came to light, Derek came to find out that she was actually the Darach, who was arguably one of the best villains in Teen Wolf.
Her tragic backstory and clever disguise as the innocent English teacher were enough to make Derek, and fans alike, care about her. But after finding out about her manipulations and treachery - not to mention the virgin sacrifices and the bloodshed she caused - it became clear that Derek was better off without her.
Despite having one of the best enemies to lovers relationships in Teen Wolf, Allison and Issac were an odd pairing. It wasn't that long ago when Allison decided to take on her family's legacy, ruthlessly hunting down werewolves and attacking Derek's pack, including Issac. Seeing as they got off on such a rocky start, it's fair to say that fans found it difficult to root for the two.
Their pairing also felt a bit hypocritical on Allison's part, as one of the reasons she broke up with Scott was because he was a werewolf, but apparently, that didn't matter when it came to Issac. However, their relationship was cut short due to Allison's abrupt death. Issac left the show immediately after.
Although Scott and Kira didn't become an official item until the following season, they awkwardly began dating in season 4, which provided several cringe-worthy Teen Wolf moments. Despite how well they matched together later in the show, in season 4 their story seemed rushed as Scott was still grieving the recent loss of Allison, who was his first love.
Meanwhile, Kira was still struggling to get a hold of her newly discovered supernatural powers. The relationship between them started as a friendship and that seemed like a much better place for them to be at this point in the story. As neither of them seemed to be ready for a romance that season, their relationship felt forced.
The relationship between Lydia and Parish never really made any sense. The thing that initially brought them together was the fact that they were both supernaturally drawn to death as a banshee and a hellhound respectively, and that alone was weird enough. Despite supposedly sharing a "supernatural connection," they lacked the chemistry and spark that would have made their relationship flourish, instead of remaining at a standstill as they did.
The age difference and power imbalance between them was another issue, as Lydia was an underage high school student and Jordan was a police deputy in his twenties.
The first part of the final season saw the return of Claudia Stilinksi in the form of a ghost. Claudia had actually died years before the show began and it was one of the saddest deaths in Teen Wolf. Their son's disappearance leads to Stilinksi unknowingly conjuring his late wife's ghost to fill the void that Stiles left behind.
As heartbreaking as this plotline was, fans found it hard to root for them considering the unusual circumstances. Even though their relationship might have been really good when Claudia was alive, in this season it felt odd as she was only standing in the way of Stiles' return.
Scott and Malia got together in the very last season, and some fans thought that this relationship was a rushed decision by the writers. As the two were the only ones out of all the main characters who were left single towards the end, it was easy to assume that their relationship was based more on convenience than any actual connection.
Despite the fact that they clearly cared about each other, the chemistry between them was underdeveloped as they had spent the majority of the show as friends. Also, Malia had a long-term relationship with Stiles, who was Scott's best friend, and even though they both moved on, it still felt odd to see Scott and Malia together.
