I’m a home stylist – my simple trick will make your bathroom look expensive and you’ll only spend $10

MOST of us want our homes to look clean, tasteful, and welcoming.

How we achieve that look without spending hundreds or thousands of dollars, however, is difficult to understand.

One woman, a home stylist who goes by @the_avantgarde on TikTok, has gained a following thanks to her home décor tips that teach viewers how to make the most of their space without breaking the bank.

She recently shared her hacks for making your bathroom feel like a five-star hotel.

BATHROOM BOTTLES

In the clip, she showed the inside of a shower cluttered with Pantene shampoo and conditioner containers, dove body wash, and various face wash bottles

“Don’t leave your bottles like this,” she advised.

“Instead, use uniform bottles and mount them on your wall.”

She filled up three army green translucent bottles, which can be found on Amazon for only $10.

She then printed white labels with black lettering that named each product and their brands.

After attaching the labels, she mounted the bottles to the shower wall with adhesive hooks.

“This will maximize space and give you an elevated look.”

Her followers were impressed with the result:

“Reminds me of a hotel,” one person commented.

“TikTok always reminds me that I’m lacking,” added another.

FLIP YOUR MATTRESS

As for ways to make the rest of your home feel like a five-star hotel, a duty manager at a luxe UK hotel called the Daffodil, shared a few useful tips.

Her first piece of advice was to remember to flip your mattress regularly.

“It’s a good idea to turn it at least every two weeks,” she explained. “As well as this, air it with no sheets on for at least 30 minutes.”

GOODBYE FITTED SHEET

Kate’s most surprising tip was to leave behind the fitted sheet.

“When do you ever see a fitted sheet in a hotel?” the hotel manager asked.

“When you opt for a plain sheet you can easily recreate a ‘hospital corner fold’.”

She went on to explain how to recreate the opulent look: “Lift the edge of the sheet to form a 45-degree angle with your mattress.

“Then, pull and tuck the hanging fabric underneath the mattress. You can do this with your duvet too; simply lift and tuck.”

WRINKLE REMOVER

Revealing another of her top tips, Kate advised relaxing any linen wrinkles with fragranced water.

“Simply spritz your water (plain old tap water) on your almost-made bed (keep the corners sticking out) and spray and shake your sheet or duvet until smooth and wrinkle-free,” she suggested.

PILLOW TALK

And as far as the hotel duty manager is concerned, there’s one item that’s crucial to giving your bed that first-class hotel-feel – and that’s pillows.

“Many pillowcases will be too big for the pillows, so be sure to envelope your pillowcases and make them fit nice and neatly,” she advised.

“This is very simple: Push the excess material inside the pillowcase from the opening.

“Grab the other side and envelope the remaining case inside to form a neat envelope shape. If possible, add two pillows into any one pillowcase for added plump.”

THROW IT ON

For the finishing touch, she recommended laying a folded throw on the bottom and giving a final spritz of fragranced water.
