Scouting Pacific: The Tigers come in to the Galen Center having split their last four contests following a seven-game losing streak. Pacific has a daunting doubleheader on its hands, facing USC Tuesday before a Thursday trip up to Spokane to face No. 2 Gonzaga. … The Tigers rank 301st nationally in field-goal percentage (41.3%) and are led by guard Alphonso Anderson with 11.0 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. … Tuesday’s game was added to the schedule last week in an effort by USC to round out its non-conference schedule after a December cancellation with Oklahoma State.
USC update: The Trojans dropped two spots in the Associated Press poll on Monday following Saturday’s 72-63 loss to now-fourth-ranked Arizona. USC kept up with the Wildcats for much of the game but only scored three points in the final 6:17 of play, making one of its last 15 field goals. … The Trojans will look to jump-start their offense on Tuesday, particularly trying to get guards Boogie Ellis and Drew Peterson involved after a combined 4-for-25 effort against Arizona. … Veteran guard Isaiah White hit a trio of 3-pointers to log nine points against Arizona, his highest point total since Nov. 13. It was a promising sign for a key energy player who struggled through back spasms earlier in the year.
