Woman happily shares how she chops off her 4-foot hair but everyone is focused on something else

A WOMAN who could be compared to a real-life Rapunzel thanks to her long, golden locks decided to chop 4 feet of length from her luscious mane.

While seeing so much hair be removed from someone’s head may be shocking, people are focused on something completely different shown in the video.

The woman, a stay-at-home mom named Vanessa Rasmusson, shared her shocking hair cut in a video posted to her TikTok page.

More surprising than the hair transformation seemed to be the scissors used to cut it, as hundreds of viewers commented how appalled they were by the scissors used.

“The hairdresser did a horrible job with those dull scissors!!!!!” one person slammed.

“All that money tied up in chandeliers,” a second person wrote, commenting on the several macrame-style lighting fixtures hanging from the salon’s ceiling.

“They need to get those shears sharpened.”

Yet another person agreed, writing: “Looks like they needed [to be] sharpened before cutting her beautiful hair.”

Others were concerned about whether Vanessa donated her hair or not, and if so, why her hair wasn’t braided before being chopped off.

The stylist in the video simply separated her hair into two ponytails, which upset some viewers.

According to Byrdie, however, hair should be parted into at least four sections with elastics, as one ponytail or braid can result in up to 4 inches of hair loss.

In a reply to one concerned user, Vanessa said she did indeed donate her hair, and that if she had known better, she would have had her hairdresser cut her hair differently to make it easier for wigmakers.

Regardless, Vanessa seemed beyond thrilled with her new hair length, despite having long hair for most of her life.

THE GUT INSTINCT THAT LED TO THE CUT

In a video leading up to the grand hair reveal, Vanessa explained that she hadn’t cut her hair since she was seven years old after absolutely hating a haircut she received.

“I said I would never do it again and I hated it, didn’t want it short,” she recalled.

However, in recent years, she realized her hair was no longer practical.

“My long hair has served me well, but it’s no longer serving me.

“It’s causing me more resistance in my life,” Vanessa explained, adding that the frustrations with it have changed her personality in ways she didn’t enjoy.

“I think it’s time to make a change to try something different, to let go of that identity,” she added.

In another video, she explained some of the disappointment with her hair began when she started dancing again and equated it to having a second head to carry around.

And in yet another video, she admitted it wasn’t “realistic” to have such long hair with a growing family, a dog, and housework to constantly do.

Thankfully, her hair struggles are no more, as Vanessa said she absolutely loved her new hair and was even left speechless when she first saw her new style.

For those who have long hair and aren’t looking to cut it, one woman revealed what people commonly do wrong that causes hair to break and therefore prevents growth.
