Key India states head to polls

The polls are seen as a mid-term referendum for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in Goa, Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, as well as for the Indian National Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) in Punjab.
