I’m a makeup artist –I got yelled at for not putting eyelashes on a bridesmaid, 4, but everyone is saying the same thing
“WHERE are the fake eyelashes?” a bride allegedly asked regarding the makeup on her four-year-old daughter.
Makeup artist Kendra Matthies uses social media to share some of her most memorable encounters with clients, but this particular time, it wasn’t such a great interaction.
Matthies claimed she was hired to do a bride’s makeup, along with her 4-year-old daughter, who was standing by her mom as a bridesmaid.
Because of the bridesmaid’s age, they had chosen a junior bridesmaid package, which only takes 15 minutes to complete.
Explaining what’s in the package, the makeup artist said she put mascara, eyeshadow, blush, highlight, and lipgloss on the girl, as it is designed for younger children who usually get a more “natural” look done.
“I didn’t think you were serious,” the bride allegedly told Matthies when she saw her daughter had indeed gotten the junior package.
“Where are the fake eyelashes? She looks like a little kid.”
“Because she’s four… If you want me to do more makeup on her I can… but I’m also going to have to charge you for a normal bridesmaid rate,” the artist told her.

But the bride was confused at the upcharge since her daughter, after all, was only 4-years-old.
The artist explained to the bride that the junior bridesmaid look uses less makeup and takes much less time to do, which is why it’s a quarter of the price of the bride’s glam.
After the bride’s makeup was done, she said: “Yeah this looks great, but I don’t get why you couldn’t have done this on her.”
She then suggested to the artist that she make her menu clearer by listing what is NOT included in a look.
“You don’t want to cause any more confusion because of something you’ve done,” the bridezilla told the Matthies.
After posting her video, many users sided with the artist, saying: “How dare you give them what they signed up for” and “Why wouldn’t you be serious on your menu?”
Questioning the bride’s idea of beauty, one person even said: “So what she wanted was for her to look like she was on Toddlers & Tiaras?”
At the end of the appointment, the daughter was just excited to be a part of the wedding day activities and felt beautiful with either makeup look.
