Love Is Blind 2: Jarrette's Stabbing Incident & Stomach Scar Explained

Love Is Blind season 2 star Jarrette Jones opened up in the pods about a tragic story that involved him getting stabbed and spending time in a hospital by himself. When it comes to dating on a show like Love Is Blind, it can be pretty difficult for the contestants to open up and be really vulnerable with one another. Vulnerability can be hard in general, but there's even more pressure knowing that these chats might be aired on a very popular reality TV series.
Throughout the pods experience of Love Is Blind season 2, Jarrette Jones connected with two women in particular: Iyanna McNeely and Mallory Zapata. Jarrette appeared to have a deep connection with both of them, but he had very different chemistries with each potential partner. With Mallory, Jarrette was more flirtatious and goofy. With Iyanna, he was more open and personal. Prior to proposing to Iyanna in the pods, Jarrette opened up about something he had never shared with anyone in his life before.
Jarrette started out telling Iyanna in the pods that no one knew this story, not even his family and close friends. He started out, "I had an issue with someone who I thought was a really close friend of mine." Jarrette noted that he and this friend had experienced some issues in the past, but one day, things escalated to a level he could've never foreseen. He explained, "I never saw the knife in his hand. I was stabbed. I end up passing out. That's all I remember." Jarrette's next memory was waking up in a hospital bed and feeling tubes down his nose. "I didn't even know that I was gonna make it," he concluded.
It was then that Jarrette realized on Love Is Blind that he had the courage to be that vulnerable when talking to Iyanna, which strengthened their relationship quite significantly. Even though he had an awesome chemistry with Mallory, sharing such a traumatic experience with a person he hadn't even seen in person yet made him feel like he had an even more special connection with Iyanna. After Jarrette and Iyanna got engaged and went to the couples' retreat, she was able to see the scar Jarrette has on his stomach from that incident. He implied that the scar bothered him a little, but Iyanna was very supportive and reassured him that it wasn't an issue to her.
It's still too early to determine if Jarrette and Iyanna will make it all the way on Love Is Blind. However, Jarrette had to have a lot of trust in Iyanna to share with her such a traumatic experience he faced not so long ago. Hopefully, this will be another successful couple to come out of the Love Is Blind franchise.
