Summer House: Why Fans Think Paige Gets Away With 'Mean Girl' Behavior
Paige DeSorbo is known for her fashion and outspoken personality but some Summer House fans think she gets away with being a "mean girl."Season 6 is following Paige as she toys back and forth between dating Andrea Denver or Craig Conover. With Amanda Batula and Ciara Miller as her allies, Paige does a good job at staying out of the show's central drama. But just because Kyle Cooke or Lindsay Hubbard might take the cake for being the most dramatic, fans are noticing Paige's character flaws that seemingly get bypassed.
Since her season 3 inception, Paige has maintained the right friendships to keep her out of trouble. She was introduced as one of Amanda's two best friends. Paige and Hannah Berner's addition helped add to the party vibe the Summer House crew is known for. Between a number of hookups, flings, and heartbreaks, Amanda, Hannah, and Paige proved to be the perfect trio. Alas, season 5 saw a new side of Hannah that turned her into the show's villain. With Paige being so close to Hannah, she was guilty by association. When Hannah decided to leave the show after being confronted by most of the cast at the Summer House season 5 reunion, Paige was left with Amanda and newcomer Ciara to fill the void.
With Hannah gone and Lindsay focusing more on her love life than getting "activated," viewers are starting to pick up on Paige's character flaws. Fans started a Reddit thread explaining why they think Paige is able to "get away with being a spoiled mean girl while continuing to be a fan fave." While crediting Paige for making "fun and snarky" comments that add to the comical moments on the show, the Redditor also noted how other cast members have received criticism in the past season while "it seems like Paige hasn't really grown out of the high school clique mentality," they said. "A lot of people in her corner seem to annoy fans (like Ciara or Hannah) but she always somehow how gets off scot-free," they added.
Over the course of the show, Carl Radke has received heat for his old wild boy ways. Kyle has also come under fire for his treatment of Amanda and his frat-boy antics. Alums Jordan Verroi and Jules Daoud brought the heat in season 4 and filled the season with their romance drama. By season 5, Hannah stole the show with all the drama she was stirring up on and off the show. Because of this, fans think Paige's subtle shade was overlooked. "I think Paige benefits from there always being someone worse than her on the show, same with Amanda.," one Redditor said. Other fans credited Paige with being "quick-witted" with her remarks on the show. Another Redditor asked, "is it really quick wit? She is only funny in confessionals. She has weeks to have someone else write the jokes for her."
From the looks of it, Paige could be a new target among viewers. With Hannah gone, viewers are looking for a new cast member to critique. With Paige being so close to Hannah, it only makes sense that she get the spotlight next. The Summer House star has made it through four seasons seemingly unscathed from any fan backlash.
