CHOCOLATE is not the only aphrodisiac you can be indulging in come Valentines’s Day.

There are five surprising foods found around the world that are thought to get you in the mood, according to the experts at HelloFresh.

GINGER

Ginger’s strong scent is what makes the root an aphrodisiac, according to the food experts at HelloFresh.

The scent has been observed to stimulate the circulatory system, which may translate to feelings of yearning for your partner.

“It is believed to increase sensitivity in the erogenous zones while also making our tongue and lips tingle,” the experts said in a press release.

Erogenous zones include parts of the body that can cause feelings of arousal when touched, such as the breasts and lips.

HelloFresh recommended using its ginger beef stir fry meal on Valentine’s Day to spice up the night, but of course, you can make a stir fry from ingredients you find at the grocery store.

“You can also enjoy ginger in drinks, whether that be adding fresh ginger to cocktails or having a glass of ginger beer,” they added.

CELERY

Celery may be composed mostly of water, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have a noticeable effect on the body.

Celery increases the body’s androsterone levels, a naturally occurring hormone found in the male body.

Having an increased level of androsterone can make women more sexually attracted to one’s bodies.

OKRA

“Okra, otherwise known in English-speaking countries as ‘ladies fingers,’ is reputed as the ‘vegetable of love’ as it’s rich in magnesium, a natural relaxant,” the HelloFresh experts noted.

Okra can be eaten in many ways, such as in gumbos, salads, and curry.

Furthermore, it can be fried, sauteed, grilled, pickled, or roasted.

MACA

Maca is a South American plant related to broccoli that is known to strengthen the libido.

“Studies have shown that maca boosts attractiveness towards others, making it a great aphrodisiac for Valentine’s Day,” the experts explained.

“Maca is a sweet root vegetable that goes well with chocolate and coffee, it is widely available to buy and can be easily added to drinks or baking recipes.”

GINSENG

While Ginseng is often touted for its antioxidant properties and ability to stimulate weight loss, it’s also an aphrodisiac.

“Ginseng, a popular herb in Chinese medicine, is often [used] to help stimulate passion and function amongst couples,” the experts at HelloFresh said.

They added: “Some say it’s an aphrodisiac because of its resemblance to the human body and the word ginseng means ‘man root.’”

It also helps relax people, so if you’ve got Valentine’s Day jitters, it might be the way to go.

Ginseng can be added to cocktails and tea or mixed into soups.

While chocolate is a popular Valentine’s Day choice, there are plenty of other options to make your special night as sensual as possible.
