Newcastle star Kieran Trippier on CRUTCHES and wearing protective boot after being taken to hospital after Villa winner
KIERAN TRIPPIER scored the winner for Newcastle against Aston Villa – then left the stadium on CRUTCHES.
The England international struck a sweet freekick on 35 minutes to seal three crucial points for the Magpies.
But he was subbed off just three minutes into the second-half with a knock to his foot.
And the 31-year-old defender was later spotted leaving St James’ Park on crutches with a protective boot.
Toon boss Eddie Howe later confirmed the right-back had been taken to hospital for an X-ray.
Howe said: “Trippier got stamped on and he couldn’t continue with a problem on the top of his foot.
“He’s gone for an X-ray at hospital. We’re keeping everything crossed there’s no broken bone there.”
Trippier joined mega-rich Newcastle in January as the first signing of the Saudi-led era on Tyneside.

He arrived from Atletico Madrid in a £12million deal as Howe called in reinforcements to help them beat the drop.
The result against Steven Gerrard’s dangerous Villa made it three wins in a row for the hosts.
They currently sit four points clear of the relegation zone with a game in hand over Norwich below them.
Next up for Howe’s men are high-flying West Ham before a vital pair of games against Brentford and Brighton.
