Horror Streaming Service Shudder Compiles Valentine's Day Film Collection
The genre streaming service Shudder is delivering a carefully curated collection of scares in time for Valentine's Day. Shudder, a part of AMC Networks, has been one of the most consistent sources of niche content for fans of horror, thriller, and cult films since its inception in 2015. Besides Shudder originals, classic films like Phantasm and Halloween, and hosted shows like The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs, the platform is known for compiling high-quality collections of movies for various occasions.
Now, Shudder has revealed their newest collection via Twitter, composed of 22 films that straddle the "thin line between love and terror," according to the Love Sick page on their website. True to Shudder's menagerie of licensed titles, the selections in the Love Sick collection range from classic slashers like the David Boreanaz-led Valentine to the peculiar horror romance, Are We Not Cats, which follows a couple that likes to eat hair. The most well-known film in the collection is undoubtedly Michael Rymer's Queen of the Damned, starring the late Aaliyah, satisfying Valentine's Day theming with its attractive stars and debaucherous vampire action. But for viewers who want to branch out to something different, the eclectic collection features tender romance masquerading as sci-fi body horror in Spring or the experimental giallo thriller, The Strange Color of Your Body's Tears. New additions to the Shudder platform, in general, spill over into the collection, including the period horror, The Last Thing Mary Saw. For the old-school horror fan, black-and-white classics like Mario Bava's Black Sunday and Curtis Harrington's Night Tide exist to test the boundaries of fear and passion. Otherwise, several other intriguing films reside within the collection, which subscribers can now access via the Shudder website or app.
