X-Men's Mr. Sinister Had the Most Roundabout Way of Killing Them

0

The despicably evil Marvel Comics villain Mr. Sinister has tried for years to kill the X-Men once and for all, and he finally figured out a roundabout way to watch them suffer. In recent comics, Mr. Sinister has actually aligned himself with the X-Men as he is a member of the Quiet Council of Krakoa. However, in another ongoing comic series that takes fans back in time to the X-Men’s adventures in the ‘90s, Mr. Sinister kills a number of X-Men members in the most convoluted way imaginable.

In X-Men Legends #10 by Fabian Nicieza and Dan Jurgens, Mr. Sinister calls a meeting of some of the most prominent and intelligent mutants of his time. Those in attendance are Beast, Professor X, Moira MacTaggert, Magneto, and Amanda Mueller. The goal of their meeting is to discuss the future of mutants and debate the next stage of their evolution. Mr. Sinister, of course, wants this information in order to create the perfect mutant, which has been his goal since his introduction as a main X-Men villain. However, when the time runs out on their little dinner party, Mr. Sinister’s guests suffer a cruel fate.

Upon reading this issue, fans soon learn that every single mutant at Sinister’s dinner party workshop is actually just a clone of the real versions. Mr. Sinister made copies of the originals to pick their brains without fear of being killed or captured. While the clones contained all of the necessary brain functions, they were far from perfect copies. Within just a few hours of being alive, the clones started to disintegrate as Mr. Sinister only designed them to remain alive for the length of a single meeting and not a moment longer. When he created the clones, Sinister was just after key pieces of information about mutant evolution. However, during that process he also came up with the most roundabout way of killing the mutants (the clone versions of them) that have caused him so much trouble over the years.

The most tragic part of this issue is that, once the clones realize they are all going to disintegrate and die after such a short amount of time being alive, they begin to panic and start trying to come up with ways to stay alive. This plot point is not unlike the Sci-Fi film Blade Runner in which humanoid robots known as Replicants know they are going to die after only living for a few short years. Like the mutant clones created by Sinister, the Replicants scramble to come up with a way to extend their lives, and like the X-Men clones, they also fail and die.

While Blade Runner’s Replicants had a rough time in their fight for survival, Mr. Sinister’s clones had it way worse as they had much less time to be alive. While Sinister’s main goal wasn’t to torment the clones of some of his greatest enemies, that was assuredly a satisfying perk for the sadistic villain. X-Men’s evil villain Mr. Sinister had the most roundabout way of killing a number of his mutant foes, one that was just as sinister as he is.
