GTA Online Pilots Coordinate to Send Valentine's Day Message
Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto Online, and its virtual city of Los Santos, is typically home to mayhem and destruction, but a talented group of players has come together for a much more wholesome display this Valentine's Day. GTA Online was first launched alongside the massively successful Grand Theft Auto 5 back in 2013, and has since served as a virtual playground for aspiring daredevils and alien cosplayers alike. Naturally, Rockstar itself has provided plenty of official events and additional content for Grand Theft Auto Online players, such as a ridable motorbike themed after Cyberpunk 2077 and a recent update that makes GTA Online’s Short Trips missions available to everyone.
This holds true for special Valentine's Day promotions tool, as Grand Theft Auto Online offered players triple XP for participating in the team-based ‘Till Death Do Us Part and Shotgun Wedding Deathmatch modes during last year’s sweetheart-filled festivities. Rockstar revealed this year’s GTA Online Valentine’s Day content a few days ago, announcing a slew of cosmetic items, weapons, and vehicles along with more XP boots, a new price ride challenge, and an increased likelihood of seeing the rare pink diamond as loot while performing heists in GTA Online’s Caribbean Island of Cayo Perico.
Some of Grand Theft Auto Online’s more daring players have taken matters into their own hands to celebrate this year’s Valentine’s Day, as chronicled by GameRant. A Reddit user and GTA Online player by the handle of _Tonan_ posted an impressive video of a midair stunt they and a team of fellow daredevils performed in the air above Los Santos’s Vespucci beach area to the GTA Online subreddit earlier today. While riding in jet planes, this in-game crew uses colored smoke trails to draw a cute pink heart in the clouds to signify Valentine’s Day. Tonan’s post has gone viral since it was posted, gaining roughly 3.6 thousand upvotes and drawing plenty of fans to comment on their team’s impeccable timing and reflect on their own Valentine’s Day GTA Online sessions over the years.

Grand Theft Auto has been a virtual home away from home for a large and enthusiastic player base in the years since it first launched, with 2021 serving as an especially memorable year for the virtual city of Los Santos. Aside from additional content for the aforementioned Cayo Perico, GTA Online saw the addition of The Contract, a story-based update that featured an appearance from GTA 5 protagonist Franklin Clinton and music from legendary rappers like Dr. Dre and Eminem.
Tonan and their team are far from the first virtual pilots to pull off an impressive mid-air stunt in GTA Online, which has seen players hijack jet planes out of the sky and push the game’s physics engine to its limits to fly through the narrow gap between buildings. However, this latest Grand Theft Auto Online stunt is noteworthy for the precise timing that the participating players pull off, as well as a display of how Rockstar’s multiplayer online sandbox continues to bring people together on Valentine’s Day.
