Chelsea make hilarious gaffe in ‘champions of the world’ poster as they include picture of infamous Edouard Mendy howler
CHELSEA have been ribbed for including a hilarious gaffe in their ‘champions of the world’ poster.
The Blues lifted their first-ever Club World Cup with a 2-1 win over Brazilians Palmeiras on Saturday.
Chelsea used a picture of Edouard Mendy failing to keep out a fluke cross goal in the 3-2 loss at West Ham[/caption]And Chelsea quickly tweeted out a souped-up poster showing various members of their squad celebrating.
However, eagle-eyed West Ham fans were quick to notice a problem with Edouard Mendy’s snap.
The goalkeeper can be seen diving for a ball, presumably saving it in the process.
But in fact, the picture turned out to be the moment Mendy made a horror mistake in Chelsea’s 3-2 defeat at the London Stadium in December.
The stopper let in a fluke cross from Arthur Masuaku to hand the Hammers an 87th minute winner.
And Chelsea’s poster was soon picked up by Hammers supporters, who were only too happy to mock it.

Another wrote: “Hahahaha for goodness sake.”
One added: “Beat them 3-2, does that make us world champions then?”
However, Chelsea are sure to be having the last laugh after adding yet more silverware to their bursting trophy cabinet.
And Thomas Tuchel has the chance to pick up his FOURTH major title in just over a year when the Blues face Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final this month.
