DEAR DEIDRE: EIGHT weeks into pregnancy, my partner suffered a miscarriage. A month on, she is still struggling to come to terms with it all.

No issue is too small, too large or too embarrassing. Read our personal replies here.

We were both really excited and looking forward to the future but sadly it wasn’t to be.

I know it is not something she will get over quickly but I feel helpless that I can’t do anything for her.

I try to give her advice on who to speak to and what to do but she doesn’t want to do anything.

She keeps asking me to open up about it. It is almost like she wants me to break down over it.

DEIDRE SAYS: Women often have deep-seated pain about losing a baby. Her loss is still very raw.

Many partners react with sadness, grief and shock but often do not share their own feelings, usually for fear of further upsetting the mum or saying the wrong thing.

Sharing your feelings can help you both through your loss.

Talk to the Miscarriage Association for support (miscarriageassociation.org.uk, 01924 200 799).

My support pack Had A Miscarriage? will help you both.
