Odenkirk's Better Call Saul S6 Claim Is Huge, But The Show Has Set It Up
Bob Odenkirk's Better Call Saul season 6 claims are huge, but the show has set it up. The sixth season of Breaking Bad's (for the most part) prequel series will also be its last, and much like its predecessor will be split into two parts. And according to series star, Bob Odenkirk, the season will be the show's best yet.
Serving primarily as a prequel to Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul follows the titular Goodman during his years as Jimmy McGill. What's interesting about this show is that, in addition to the main storyline, the show also sees flashforwards of Saul as "Gene," his alias following the events of Breaking Bad. It's surely likely that this plotline will be resolved, giving the fan-favorite lawyer a definitive ending to his story after so long.
While Bob Odenkirk claiming Better Call Saul season 6 will be the best yet is a huge remark that sets the bar incredibly high, it's also one that the show is capable of honoring. Throughout five seasons, many incredible storylines have been developed and are at their head. Much like Breaking Bad, the show's quality only gets better as it progresses. If season 6 can deliver a satisfying conclusion to each of these storylines, then it does have the potential to be the best yet.
Among the storylines that are most anticipated in Better Call Saul season 6 is the fate of Kim Wexler-McGill, as well as the resolution of the conflict between Gus Fring and Lalo Salamanca. The former has piqued huge fan interest because of Kim's major role in the show despite her absence in Breaking Bad, leaving many wondering (and for those who are fans of her dreading,) what is to come of her as season 6 comes to a close. The same can be said for Lalo and to that end Nacho Vargas. The season 5 finale sees Lalo on a warpath following Gus' failed assassination attempt that Nacho set up. Since both characters, like Kim, are not featured in Breaking Bad (though Lalo and Nacho are mentioned by Saul in his debut episode,) the show needs to address the fates of these characters in a way that doesn't feel hand-waived and offers a plausible reason for their absence for season 6 to truly succeed.
At the moment, Bob Odenkirk's claims put a huge weight on Better Call Saul's shoulders as it reaches its endgame. However, Vince Gilligan and his crew have proven with Breaking Bad that they are perfectly capable of delivering a satisfying conclusion to the series. Fortunately, viewers won't have to wait much longer for Better Call Saul season 6.
