Marriott's 2021 workforce declined by 1,000 employees, has dropped 31% in two years
Marriott International Inc. disclosed Tuesday that it had 120,000 employees at the end of 2021, including 97,000 employees in the U.S., according to the hotel operators 10-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. That's down 0.8% from 121,000 employees at the end of 2020, which included 98,000 U.S. employees. The hotel operator's workforce has now declined 31.0% in two years, from 174,000 in pre-pandemic 2019. The company also reported earlier Tuesday 2021 revenue of $13.86 billion, up 31.1% from 2020 but down 33.9% from 2019. The stock surged 5.0% in afternoon trading toward a record close. It has run up 15.6% over the past three months, while the S&P 500 has lost 4.7%.
