Harry Kane is open to the idea of a transfer to Manchester United this summer providing Mauricio Pochettino is named as their new manager, according to a report.

The Red Devils are once again being heavily linked with Pochettino amid doubts over Ralf Rangnick’s long-term suitability. And while the German has suffered just two losses in 13 games, it cannot paper over several disappointing results.

As such, questions have been raised over the prospect of Rangnick even facing the sack.

However, all things considered, United won’t make any changes again, though a long-term solution will be sought in the summer.

To that end, Rangnick, along with those in power at United, are reportedly considering two leading contenders: Pochettino and Erik Ten Hag.

And it seems like Pochettino – who has long been on United’s radar – is the leading candidate to take charge. Indeed, question marks over his long-term future at PSG continue to surface.

There has been claims of a discord between him and sporting director Leonardo. Other reports, meanwhile, state Pochettino has ‘had enough’ of life in the French capital.

They claim he feels he has been forced to work in highly-testing conditions and feels the constant criticism of his management is wholly unfair.

Furthermore, failure to win the Champions League – regardless of mitigating circumstances – will be branded a failure.

‘Kane keen to follow Pochettino to Old Trafford’

As such, Pochettino appears the man most likely to step into the United hotseat this summer.

In doing so, the Daily Telegraph also claims there is a strong chance that Kane could follow him to Old Trafford.

They write that Pochettino will make the signing of Kane his first priority upon taking charge at the Red Devils.

And the pair, who worked together for five years at Tottenham, retain a strong bond.

The Telegraph claims Kane is the strong leader and goalscoring machine that United have lacked since Robin van Persie in their 2013 title triumph.

And, citing sources close to Kane, they state the England captain is keen on a reunion with Pochettino at Old Trafford were he to take the job.

The report, however, admits that any deal for Kane would prove ‘highly complicated’.

Recalling how Manchester City tried and failed to sign Kane last summer, there is an acknowledgement that prising him from Spurs will be far from easy.

However, with Edinson Cavani and Cristiano Ronaldo both possibly moving on, United will need a new frontman.

And capturing a new striker is something that even Rangnick accepts will be on United’s agenda this summer.

“Edison’s contract is running out in the summer, and the club needs the best possible centre forward,” Rangnick said. “This is an obvious one. I think everyone is aware of that.”
