How To Find (& Catch) Snorlax In Pokémon Legends: Arceus
Pokémon Legends: Arceus brought plenty of welcome changes to the Pokémon franchise, but players can find and catch one of the most iconic original Pokémon from Gen I, Snorlax, in the ancient Hisui region. With its high HP and Special Defense stats, Snorlax is a notoriously good defensive Pokémon, and its powerful physical attacks can dish out plenty of damage as well. Snorlax is a rare spawn in the Hisuian wilds, but there are several locations throughout the region that it can appear if trainers are lucky enough to encounter it.
Snorlax can appear in both the Arena’s Approach and Snowfall Hot Springs areas of the Alabaster Icelands in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, but the chances of encountering it in the wild are pretty slim. However, players will also have a chance to encounter Snorlax in the Space-Time Distortions that appear in the Crimson Mirelands area of the map. Snorlax’s strength as a tank can make it difficult to weaken in battle, but trainers can also avoid a fight altogether and catch Snorlax by stunning it with Sticky Globs or sneaking up behind it with the help of stealth items like Smoke Bombs and Stealth Spray. Trainers can also distract Snorlax by feeding it one of its favorite foods, including Dazzling Honey, Plump Beans, and Hearty Grains.
If trainers are having trouble finding a Snorlax to catch in the wild of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, they can evolve one from a Munchlax to add it to the Pokédex instead. Like Snorlax, Munchlax is a rare spawn, but players will likely have better luck finding it in the wild than its evolved form. Munchlax can be found along the Deertrack Path in the Obsidian Fieldlands early on in the game. Once trainers reach the Alabaster Icelands, they’ll be able to encounter it in the Snowfall Hot Springs and Arena’s Approach areas as well. A Mass Outbreak of Munchlax may also appear on the map, so trainers looking to evolve Snorlax should keep an eye out for Outbreaks during their excursions through the Hisuian wilderness.
Munchlax evolves into Snorlax with high enough friendship in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, so trainers will have to increase their bond with their Munchlax before it will be ready to transform. Trainers can increase their Munchlax’s friendship by battling together, feeding it EXP. Candies, and using it to break stones and shake trees on their excursions. To check on their Pokémon’s friendship, players can speak with Belamy outside of the Jubilife Village Pastures, but Legends: Arceus will alert players as soon as their Munchlax is ready to evolve as well.
However, suppose trainers are up for a challenge and want a surefire way to encounter Snorlax in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. In that case, they’ll find an Alpha Snorlax to the east of Lake Verity in the Obsidian Fieldlands area. Unfortunately, Alpha Snorlax is level 45, which is much higher than the other Pokémon in this low-level starting zone, and trainers will likely be unable to capture it without blacking out the first time they explore the area. However, with a team of high-level Pokémon and plenty of Ultra Balls, players will be able to capture the massive Alpha Snorlax and add it to their team.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus is available on Nintendo Switch.
