I’ve chosen a variation of a family name for my baby boy – but trolls say it looks like a spelling mistake

GIVING your baby the same name as a loved family member is seen by many as a touching tribute.

But one anonymous woman, who is believed to be from the US, was mocked for doing just that – after she decided to slightly tweak the spelling.

An anonymous woman, who is believed to be from the US, took to Reddit and explained that she wants to name her son Alyert – a slight variation on the name Albert which runs in her family. Pictured, stock image[/caption]

Instead, many were left wondering whether she’d made a typo.

In the post, which was shared on Reddit, the mum-to-be explained: “My husband and I are expecting our first child, and found out that it’s a baby boy.

“So I made this account because I need some outside opinions on the baby name we’re considering: Alyert.

The name Albert runs in our family, and we really want to use it for our baby, but it feels weird to use the exact same name as other family members. So I was thinking, Alyert.”

She went on to say that it’s still a “strong masculine name” like Albert, but added it has “some interesting detail to make it unique.”

The pregnant woman continued: “I want to know if other people think it sounds nice.”

We’re also considering Allert as an alternative because it might flow better.”

The nickname would be Al either way of course.”

However, social media users didn’t hold back when it came to expressing their opinions on the rather unique name.

“If any letter can be replaced by a ‘y’ then how long have we got before a child is named ‘Yyyyyy’?’ asked one.

A second commented: “Wtf is the point of using an ‘honour name’ if you’re going to change it to the point it’s not even a name????”

Allert sounds like an allergy medication. Hay fever? Stuffy nose? Watery eyes? Take Allert at the first sign of your symptoms!

And a third quipped: “Allert sounds like an allergy medication. Hay fever? Stuffy nose? Watery eyes? Take Allert at the first sign of your symptoms!”

Meanwhile, a fourth branded it the most “revolting” name they’ve ever heard, with another asking: “So it’s not a typo??”

In other baby news, this woman pushed her baby out in 20 mins with no pain relief OR midwife, trolls think she’s boasting but she said she knows she’s better than most women.

This poor woman ended up in the same labour and delivery room as her ex-boyfriend and his wife… awkward!

Plus this mum made a chore list to trick her kids into doing jobs and say her house is the cleanest it’s ever been.
