90 Day Fiancé: Mahogany Reveals Why She Agreed To Do The Show With Ben
Mahogany Roca from 90 Day Fiancé has been accused of being a hired actress in her storyline with Ben Rathbun, but she finally came clean about why she joined the show’s cast. 52-year-old Ben traveled all the way to Peru to meet the 24-year-old Mahogany, a woman he had been talking to for three months. While Ben’s friends and family kept insisting Mahogany is a scammer, he believed that being with the woman sharing the same faith as him was God’s plan. Instead, Mahogany ghosted him when he landed in Lima and also refused to reciprocate his “I love you” when they finally did meet. Fans felt there was something off about how Mahogany behaved during the date, which played out like a telenovela.
When rumors of Ben finally getting to meet Mahogany on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days episode 10 surfaced, not many believed them. Mahogany in the stills from the episode looked nothing like the Mahogany in her social media posts or the photos she’d sent to Ben. Mahogany might still be a catfish but during the date, Ben acknowledged that she looks “different” because of the photos that were “doctored a little bit.” But Ben liked the aura that Mahogany gave off. However, there were many things about this much-awaited 90 Day Fiancé encounter between Ben and Mahogany which felt forced and fake. Mahogany spoke perfect English and couldn’t keep a straight face during the meal and acted super awkward while hugging Ben, her boyfriend of three months, goodbye.
90 Day Fiancé: Storyline Twists That Actually Surprised Fans
Fans suspect Mahogany was encouraged to be on 90 Day Fiancé by TLC. The scriptedness and awkwardness of Mahogany’s scene with Ben were completely off the charts. Several fans suspect Mahogany was just acting and was allegedly paid by producers to be on the show, perhaps with someone else entirely having used her photos to trick Ben. As per a screenshot of Mahogany’s reply to a fan posted by 90 Day Fiancé blogger John Yates, she reveals why she chose to film in the first place. “I agreed to be on 90 Day fiancé to share a dramatic story to watch,” Mahogany told the fan.
“Keep looking and you will be surprised,” she added. The blogger asked San Bartolo resident Mahogany, “Did your agent put you up to this?” in their caption. Another fan admitted they are confused as they wondered, “Is TLC really going to ruin the show forever by planting actors?” Another TLC viewer suspects that Mahogany’s statement is her declaring that while she is a real person, her storyline isn’t. And someone else brought up a theory about how Ben and Mahogany’s relationship looks bogus and they think he is in it for his “modeling career.”
Curiously, a video of Ben in which he claimed that 90 Day Fiancé producers had found his modeling photos and asked him if he wants to be on a reality show was circulating online. This raised several red flags about Ben and Mahogany’s plot as at the same time, it was revealed that Ben had played Tarzan in a community theater production in 2014. However, Ben has also mentioned that he wants to raise awareness about lupus as he also is the director of the Michigan Lupus Foundation, through the platform the show provides. He claimed that he wanted to inspire via his unusual love story and that the show is real, and definitely not scripted, though that's not what fans believe after watching Mahogany eating empanadas with him.
