I Think That – Tottenham Star Feels Leadership Skills Showing

Dier is a key part of Antonio Conte’s first team at Spurs with the Italian seeing enough potential in him to become one of the best players in his position.

The 28-year-old was dealing with a thigh injury, but returned to the Spurs’ backline at the weekend in their 3-2 win away at Manchester City.

Dier has revealed that being vocal on the pitch in addition to organising and leading the defence are all key facets of his game and stressed he is trying to do all that to the best of his ability.

The centre-back added that Conte has given him a lot of confidence to express himself on the pitch and feels his leadership skills are coming to the forefront more this season.

“I think ever since I’ve arrived I’ve always tried to implement all the skills I think I have”, Dier told football.london.

“I think that [leadership] is definitely one of them.

“Maybe it’s coming a bit to the forefront a bit more now.

“Obviously I’m really enjoying working under the manager and the confidence he’s given me and I’m really enjoying the role and the way I’m playing in it.

“It’s very important for me in that position to lead the defence as much as possible, lead the team as much as possible, be very vocal and organise well.

“I’m trying to do that to the best of my ability.”

Fans will be hoping Dier will be able to remain fit for the remainder of the season as Tottenham chase a top four spot in the Premier League, with their next game coming against Burnley on Wednesday.
