Jack Grealish Nowhere Near Good Enough To Play For Manchester City – Richard Keys

Aston Villa battled to keep hold of Grealish last summer, but Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola pushed through a move to take the winger to the Etihad Stadium.

However, despite spending £100m to sign Grealish, Guardiola has only handed him limited playing time and questions are being asked about why Manchester City spent such a sum on the 26-year-old.

Keys is clear in his view that Grealish should now be in his prime and insists he is not good enough to get into Manchester City’s team.

He cannot see Grealish starting ahead of Phil Foden, Raheem Sterling or Kevin De Bruyne, and thinks the Citizens cannot find a position for him.

Keys, who believes Manchester City should have signed Harry Kane, wrote on his blog: “Guardiola dropped a bollock last summer. Actually he dropped two. He didn’t need Grealish. There’s a separate argument on this subject and I haven’t changed my mind since the blog when I said ‘he’ll slow them down. They’ve already got better’. So why? Why spend £100m on a player you don’t need?

“Grealish is 26 now. He should be in his prime. Sadly he’s nowhere near good enough to play for City. 

“What does he do? Who should he play in front of? Foden? Sterling? De Bruyne? They can’t find a position for him and he certainly doesn’t get into their best eleven.

“De Bruyne joined City aged 24 – already an established ‘nuisance’ on the scene. He’s got better and better. When have you ever seen him out in the wrong place at the wrong time? Exactly. Never.”

Grealish has played 17 times for Manchester City in the Premier League so far this season, chipping in with just two goals and two assists in the process.
