Every New Dinosaur In Jurassic World: Dominion So Far (& Every Returning Dinosaur)
The newest entry in the Jurassic Saga, Jurassic World: Dominion, seems to be amping everything up. There are new locations, new characters, new stakes, and of course, new dinosaurs now that the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom have now put the dinosaurs into the world.
Not only is it presenting new elements but Jurassic World: Dominion is seemingly the culmination of almost thirty years of movies. Not only are the original cast returning from Jurassic Park, The Lost World, and Jurassic Park III but many dinosaurs from the previous five films are making returns as well.
Fans were gifted with the opening prologue being released online that shows dinosaurs over 65 million years ago. Dinosaurs are designed to be more scientifically accurate since they aren't cloned using the DNA of reptiles and other animals.
One of these was the Oviraptor with its long feathery tail and large crest upon its snout. This is only one of several raptor types that will be seen in Dominion.
Discovered just over fifteen years prior, the Dreadnoughtus currently holds the record for the world's largest dinosaur at 85 feet long from tail tip to head. A few of these massive dinosaurs briefly appeared in the prologue for Dominion.
This helped in portraying a world much different than the Jurassic Saga. It's reminiscent of other iconic dinosaur movies outside of the series such as The Land Before Time.
The smallest relative of the Tyrannosaurus Rex, the Moros Intrepidus is seen also seen in the prologue of Dominion.
Due to its incredibly small size, Dominion depicts it as a scavenger animal that picks at the scraps leftover in the mouths of bigger predators as it sleeps.
One of the first fully feathered dinosaurs in the official canon, the Pyroraptor was seen in the trailer attacking Chris Pratt's Owen Grady and DeWanda Wise's Kayla in the snow.
Whether it was one of the dinosaurs taken from Isla Nublar or not is currently unknown but fans are still excited to see it since most dinosaurs are infamously scientifically inaccurate in this series.
Seen very briefly in the first trailer, two Atrociraptors were chasing Owen Grady through the city with him on his motorcycle.
This is a call back to one of the more famous scenes of the first Jurassic World but these creatures seem slightly larger while mixing in some of the horror elements of the best Velociraptor scenes of previous films.
The Therizinosaurus is definitely one of the more unique dinosaurs seen so far in the footage that's been released from Jurassic World: Dominion.
With its long claws and feathers and partial beak to make the most birdlike dinosaur design thus far, it seems to be stalking Claire Dearing through a swamp.
Flying pterosaurs are no stranger to the Jurassic franchise but none have been this big. Owen, Claire, and Kayla are in what looks like a Fairchild C-119 Flying Boxcar plane.
The trailer shows that not only does the Quetzalcoatlus overshadow the plane but it appears to have an even larger wingspan. Fairchild C-119s have a wingspan of 109 feet so that gives an idea as to how big this dinosaur really is.
This dinosaur was actually first shown off in the prologue. The Giganotosaurus is depicted in this version as an apex predator that can even bring down a Tyrannosaurus Rex with ease. That's no small feat and it would seem that the Giga will be the final threat for this trilogy.
In the first trailer, the Giga appears at the very end for both the original and new cast to face off with.
The Parasaurolophus have made numerous appearances in this franchise. From Jurassic Park to even Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
It's a herd-based herbivore that Owen Grady seems to be wrangling in the trailer for Jurassic World: Dominion.
Another recurring animal, Ankylosaurus has never really had an extensive role. They had a brief appearance in Jurassic Park III but they did have a fight against the villainous dinosaur known as the Indominus Rex in Jurassic World.
Ankylosaurus returned in Dominion via the prologue as one of many dinosaurs seen in their natural habitat.
First debuting in Jurassic World, the Apatosaurus has been a mainstay of this newer trilogy. The most famous is the one that Owen and Claire comfort as it dies from being attacked by the Indominus Rex.
Sadly, it is possibly the last longneck dinosaur breed as the Brachiosaurus tragically went extinct during the destruction of Isla Nublar.
Quickly, the Mosasaurus became a fan-favorite after Jurassic World due to the novelty of an aquatic dinosaur and its tendency to steal the show. It helped eliminate the Indominus but has already proven to be one of the more dangerous dinosaurs to be roaming the world.
In the trailer for Dominion, it is seen toppling a fishing rig, resembling one of the many scrapped scenes of the franchise.
Though they first debuted as a quick cameo in The Lost World, the Pteranodons have since been making an appearance in every film since. They were a major threat in Jurassic Park III and Jurassic World but only made a brief appearance in Fallen Kingdom.
In Dominion's trailer, it was suggested that Pteranodon's are attacking the heroes during the same sequence with the Quetzalcoatlus.
For a brief few seconds, there were two Nasutoceratopses ramming vehicles in the dark. This was very similar to the destruction of the hunter camp from The Lost World. A herd of these herbivores also appears in the prologue along with an infant version.
It did not appear in any of the five previous films but it did debut in the short-film Battle At Big Rock which takes place between Fallen Kingdom and Dominion.
In the sequence of the Dominion trailer when Owen is being chased by Atrociraptors, he comes across a rogue Allosaurus and Carnotaurus attacking people in the city. Possibly, they are also fighting each other but this is not the first Allosaurus seen thus far.
In Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, a juvenile Allosaurus can be seen trying to run from Mt. Sibo's eruption on Isla Nublar and was auctioned off from the Lockwood Estate. Meanwhile, a fully grown Allosaurus was the main antagonist for Battle At Big Rock.
As previously mentioned, a Carnotaurus is also featured in the same shot as the Allosaurus. It's a bit shrouded due to the lighting but most fans are pointing to it as a Carnotaurus seeing how it was also one of the escaped dinosaurs in Fallen Kingdom.
In Fallen Kingdom, a Carnotaurus confronted Claire, Owen, and Franklin during the destruction of Nublar. Thankfully, they were saved incidentally by Rexy as she proved herself as ruler of the island one last time before its destruction.
Finally, after years of waiting, fans got their wish as the Dilophosaurus will get its big return to the franchise since the first Jurassic Park. It quickly became one of the best dinosaurs in the Jurassic Saga due to its large frills that vibrated as it screeched and spat paralyzing venom to attack its prey such as the traitorous Denis Nedry.
In the Dominion trailer, the Dilophosaurus made its epic return by screeching at a screaming Claire while showing its frills.
At this point, is it even a Jurassic Saga movie without a Rex appearing at least once? So, of course, the Tyrannosaurus Rex returns once again and it continues to be the same matured Rex from the first Jurassic Park. Fans have even named her Rexy because they love her so much.
Having continued to prove herself as Queen of the dinosaurs in both Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom, fans are always excited to see her return.
Velociraptors are also a poster child of the Jurassic Saga whether they are the fierce predators of the original trilogy or the more realistic animal-like depiction of the new trilogy. Dominion's trailer shows the return of the fan-favorite dinosaur: Blue.
She's the last of her kind, or at least she was until the trailer showed her with an infant velociraptor, revealing that she is now a mother somehow. Like the famous Jurassic series quote goes, "Life finds a way."
