Pokémon GO Tour Poké Ball Prep Rally Timed Research Tasks (& Rewards)
Pokémon Go is currently hosting a Poké Ball Prep Rally before the upcoming Johto Tour and features its own set of Timed Research Tasks for trainers to clear out. The whole purpose of this event is to make sure players are properly stocked with Poké Balls for the next big event. The Johto Tour is a ticketed event where it's possible to capture all 100 Pokémon from the Johto region. This will also be the first time every Johto Pokémon can appear in their Shiny forms. Not only that, but it's possible to obtain Apex Lugia and Apex Ho-Oh. It's going to be one of the biggest events of the year for Pokémon Go.
As for the Poké Ball Prep Rally, this event is active from February 18th to February 25th. Trainers will receive more Poké Balls every time they open a gift during this event. It's also possible to collect Hisuian Electrode for the very first time. Initially making its debut in the recently released Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Hisuian Electrode turns normal Electrode into an Electric/Grass-type Pokémon.
For starters, the field research for the Pokémon Go Poké Ball Prep Rally is broken up into four different tasks. First, trainers will be rewarded with 3 Poké Balls for capturing 2 Voltorbs. If the player can make 3 Great Throws, they'll be given 5 Great Balls. Landing 3 Nice curveball throws in a row will provide trainers with 3 Pinap Berries. Lastly, making 5 Nice Throws will reward trainers with 5 Poké Balls.

This is also a great opportunity to collect as much Voltorb candy as possible in Pokémon Go. Since both Kantonian and Hisuian Voltorb have their spawn rates increased during this event, it'll be much easier to grind out candy. They can be used to power up Voltorb or make it evolve into Electrode. Since the Pokémon Go Johto Tour is the next big event, this is here to act as the appetizer. It will take place on Saturday, February 26th.
Pokémon Go is available now on iOS and Android.
