Tempting asking price set as reported Arsenal, Leeds target looks to force Real Madrid exit
Reported Arsenal and Leeds United target Lucas Vazquez is keen on a move away from Real Madrid, due to a lack of appearances of late.
The Spaniard has played almost all of his senior football at Real Madrid. He was part of the Madrid’s academy, and other than a short period at Espanyol, has always been at the club.
Indeed, Vazquez became a feature of Los Blancos for much of his time at the club. In fact, he has played 267 appearances for the side since 2015.
However, the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti as manager has severely reduced his game time. Vazquez has started just 11 games in La Liga this term.
The fringe role he has taken up in the squad has led to unhappiness for the Spaniard.
As such, he reportedly wants to leave the club, per El Nacional.
With a World Cup this year, Vazquez clearly wants to gain some regular minutes. Sitting on the bench will not afford him a place in Spain’s squad for the tournament.
However, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez does not want to see the 30-year-old move on.
With two years left on his deal, he may be forced to remain at the club, should they not want to sell.
However, the £10million fee will be of interest to a lot of sides. Furthermore, Vazquez’s versatile nature – able to play at right-back or right-wing – will be an attractive asset.
Vazquez and Raphinha could be among Leeds moves
In other news, Raphinha’s speculated move away from Leeds United will reportedly not happen in the summer.
The Brazilian has two years remaining on his deal at Elland Road. What’s more, the Whites want to extend his deal, which will make him harder to prise away.
Of course, speculation will still remain bout his future at the club, given his starring role in the side.
However, Leeds are more than keen to keep him on board for as long as possible.
