Everton star shares apology to fans following poor team performance against Southampton
Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin has apologised to fans following a poor display against Southampton in their last game.
Everton’s form has been up and down since Frank Lampard joined the club. Indeed, the Toffees have won two and lost two in all competitions since he took charge.
The 3-0 drubbing of Leeds United the game before last looked to be a statement of intent.
However, Lampard’s side followed that up with a disappointing 2-0 loss to Southampton. And Calvert-Lewin has now apologised to Toffees fans following that result.
“I apologise to the fans who travelled because no-one will be more disappointed than them,” he said via Liverpool Echo.
“We’ll work hard to put it right. The work we’re doing in training breeds confidence.”
Of course, it will take a while for the squad to get fully up to speed under a new manager. It seems that the side will do just fine once they are all used to his system.
“I don’t want to say the typical things because I know there will be frustrated fans saying it’s same old, same old,” Calvert-Lewin added.
“But everyone has bought into what the manager is doing and we’re enjoying training again,” he said.
Indeed, fans will be happy to hear that the squad is coming together under a new boss. What’s more, Everton will be hopeful Calvert-Lewin can get firing again, given he has not scored since returning from a four-month spell on the sidelines.
Calvert-Lewin role could lead to Kean move
Another Everton striker, Moise Kean, could well be on the move yet again. The forward has mainly been on the sidelines during his loan at Juventus since they signed Dusan Vlahovic.
A move to Paris Saint-Germain, where he spent a season on loan, could materialise.
The forward bagged 16 goals across Ligue 1 and the Champions league, his best scoring return of his career.
Furthermore, Kean ‘would not have been unwelcome at Paris Saint-Germain’ in January.
Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison’s roles at Everton mean the club will likely have no problems in seeing him leave.
