Amazon Fresh Grocery Store and ‘Just Walk Out’ Technology Arrive in Moorpark

Your grocery shopping just got an upgrade. Amazon Fresh has officially opened its first store in Ventura County–welcome to Amazon Fresh Moorpark! Whether you’re a busy mom shopping with little ones or a local student looking for convenience and low prices, Amazon Fresh—built with Just Walk Out technology to make shopping effortless—has everything you need. Just Walk Out Shopping lets you skip the checkout and go (really, just go), without the long lines or waiting around, and at Amazon Fresh you’ll also find consistently low prices, a wide assortment of your favorite brands, as well as high-quality produce, meat, seafood, and freshly prepared foods.

The first Amazon Fresh store opened its doors in August 2020 in Woodland Hills, and has since expanded across the country in California, Illinois, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington state, and Washington D.C. Hundreds of Moorpark employees have been hard at work preparing to welcome guests to the brand-new store, located at 742 Los Angeles Ave, Moorpark, CA.

Save Time with Just Walk Out technology

Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology is made possible by a combination of computer vision, sensor fusion, and deep learning, and adds convenience to customers’ grocery shopping experience. Let’s take a deeper dive into how shoppers can use Just Walk Out technology to make their trips to Amazon Fresh simple and easy.

• Enter the store and choose your Just Walk Out technology entry option.
  Customers who opt for Just Walk Out Shopping can enter the store in three ways: they can scan the QR code in their Amazon app, use Amazon One to scan their palm, or insert a credit or debit card linked to their Amazon account. Each option will open the Just Walk Out Shopping gates.

Pro tip: Download the Amazon App and link your credit or debit card before arriving at the Amazon Fresh store to make shopping a breeze.

• You’re in! Now, shop away.
  Customers shopping in an Amazon Fresh store can shop like normal! Anything customers take off the shelf is automatically added to their virtual cart, and anything they put back on the shelf will come out of their virtual cart. Questions? Keep an eye out for helpful Amazon Fresh employees throughout the store who are fully focused on making the shopping experience top-notch for customers.
• Look out for delicious food with low prices.
  When customers visit an Amazon Fresh store, they can shop low prices across a variety of national brands, quality produce, meat, and seafood. Amazon Fresh’s culinary team also offers a range of delicious, prepared foods made in-store every day–from fresh-baked bread and made-to-order pizzas, to rotisserie chickens and hot sandwiches like our brisket panini.

Pro tip: Keep an eye out for local brands, too, like Pizza Port Brewing, CoolHaus Ice Cream, and Rockenwagner Bakery, as well Amazon brands like Aplenty, Fresh and Cursive.

• Skip the checkout line and you’re good to go.
  Finished shopping for the day? Customers who chose Just Walk Out Shopping when they walked in will simply scan or insert their entry method again (Amazon app, Amazon One, or credit or debit card) to exit. It’s that simple!

Anyone can shop at Amazon Fresh. Customers who would prefer a traditional shopping experience can enter the store through the designated “Traditional Shopping” gates and use a staffed checkout lane to pay with cash, credit or debit card, Amazon One, the In-Store code in the Amazon app, or SNAP EBT.
